Because it’s breeding season (closed season in certain systems)… cod will attack anything that will swim past them… If this is in the Mary River system then it’s closed to all line fishing at the moment, until December 1.

Obviously in a tributary of the Mary or Stanley, or the other closed waters …. ALL tributaries of the Mary and waters stocked with MRC that are not impoundments were CLOSED. Catching these fish while they are breeding will kill their offspring. I love catching em when I run into em. But we need to leave their habitat alone while they breed, even if you are just chasing bass. Irresponsible
