If Jon accepts the Aspinall fight, the UFC needs to produce a full Hollywood level documentary about Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall, and market them as the best fighters in UFC history. The more I think about this; I think Tom might lose to Jon. Tom has less experience under the bright lights and he could be mentally defeated from the shear magnitude of the fight. Instead of facing Kieth Thurman, Amir Khan or Danny Garcia, he faced Berto (who had been a champion by the way). When you get on the other side of 36 years old, you start to make calculations with your career. It either happens next year or it doesn't happen as Jon Jones isn't getting any younger.

@InMotion-p1p Listen I lived in Abu Dhabi for a few years, now they may not have as much money as the Saudis but perhaps they can have the fight take place in the UAE, on fight island and get the money there. All I am saying is that since, Dana says Jon is the GOAT, then, let him get GOAT money.

Look at what Jon said when he was explaining why he would drink a week before a fight. He drank because he could use that as an excuse for himself if he lost. I believe he is scared of potentially losing this fight and putting a damper on his legacy at the tail end of his career. I don't believe he's ready to pass the torch. I also don't believe he's prepared to keep it lit. I truly hope this fight happens, and I hope the best man wins.

Every year Jones waits to fight Tom, his odds of coming out unscathed decreased dramatically
@dretheman123Ай бұрын
He’s cooked if he fights Tom now as far as I’m concerned. He looked slow and a shadow of his former self on Saturday, the only reason he looked “impressive” was because he was fighting an old man in Miocic. Stick Jon in the cage against a young and hungry beast in Tom, and Jon would look completely different.

Jon's goat status doesn't change after he beats Tom His only gain would be financial - Of course, Dana should back up the brinks truck

Jon lacks knock out power, my opinion is! Jon does get hit, Tom will hit Jon so fucking hard it will be all over in 3.30 seconds!
@mxbblife_muАй бұрын
Tom has to catch him first... Jones is one of the hardest people in the UFC to hit clean... Literally 30 fights in MMA and not one guy has been able to put him down with a punch to the face.... If Aspinall thinks Jon is the average sloppy no defense one-dimensional striking heavyweight....Tom is in for a Really rude awakening.
@petermcgrath6260Ай бұрын
@ of all Jon’s fights the hammer Santos really made Jon blink, I think Tom has plenty of that! Anyway hope we get to find out, come on Jon make it happen! Maybe I think Toms better than is!

@@petermcgrath6260 Something was weird about Jones in that fight, Out of all Jones fight, that was the only fight that he didn't try to use his Wrestling even once, he must have been injured.

@petermcgrath6260 EVERYBODY looks stuck in the mud after getting taken down by Jones in the first round without being finished.... People Like using Stipe's age as an excuse but the same thing happened to 29 year old Shogun. He got taken down, out muscled and beaten up and the rest of the fight he looked like he was fighting underwater.

I don't remember all this bitching when GSP was ducking 🦆
@TripleA679Ай бұрын
It's called Ducking, a practice that has existed in boxing for a long time, two most common techniques that the Duck will do to not fight the top contender are, 1. Relinquish the title 2. Price themselves out. It is much easier to solve in UFC than in boxing, Boxing is a sport that is not centralised like the UFC, and there are 4 different main organisations that offer titles, there is no one main body that gives the final decision like in the UFC, it's all on Dana, if Jon The Duck Jones doesn't want to fight the top contender in the division than the most logical thing to do is just give up the title and go back to light heavyweight, there's no shame in that, just stop wasting everybody's time by pricing himself out on amounts of $$$ knowingly that the UFC won't cross.
@m.j.e.5245Ай бұрын
Can you give some boxing examples?
@TripleA679Ай бұрын
@m.j.e.5245 Canelo Alvarez currently ducking David Benavidez, demanding 100 to 150 million for the fight - pricing himself out, Benavidez was the top contender for the WBC title for 3 years, Riddick Bowe famously relinquish his heavyweight title just to avoid fighting the top contender of that time - Lennox Lewis. The Klitschko brothers went on years ducking any chance of fighting Evander Holyfield. These are a few famous examples.

He admitted the risk of fighting young and dangerous fighters like Tom. For an unbeaten record this is high risk for his precious ego and legacy. Hence the big paycheck. Alex is a safer bet, he will beat Alex and if he loses to him well then he got beat by another potential GOAT. He’s using Alex to lever a bigger paycheck. I want to see Tom fight, we all do. I hope Dana doesn’t want to go back on his word.

Do you guys believe Aspinall could honestly beat DC? That Answer is not, so why would everyone want a Champion lesser than Jon Jones. Let Jon fight who he is motivated to fight. A few years ago Ciryl Gane was said to be the guy and we know how that went.

These are very NARROR MINDED opinions. Jon is NOT afraid to fight or lose to Tom. He’s saying I want to be paid what I want to give y’all what you want. He’s earned it. He’s been world Champion and has the resume to demand the BIGGEST PAY DAY. Kabib & Conor are gone. Jon is still here… he watched as they made BIG MONEY fights while he knew he was the Goat and didn’t get paid what he thought he was worth. This BLACK MAN is demanding what he is worth. The End.

Jon has all the leverage. What would the UFC do at HW if Jon retires or leaves the UFC? What big fights are out there? Now maybe they can build Tom or someone up over the next couple of years to replace Jones but at this point...what would they do? Jones doesn't need the fight. He has plenty of money...his legacy is already set in stone...Now I don't know how much the UFC is really willing to pay Jon but I feel like they can find a way to give Jones a huge pay day to make the fight happen. Jon is not afraid of anyone and he is not ducking anyone...he just doesn't need Tom. That fight really only benefits Tom. if Tom wins it takes him to super star status. The guy who finally beat Jon Jones! If Tom loses to Jones...well he is young and unexperienced and does nothing for Jones legacy 10 years from now. Just my opinion.

It is so obvious all these people who think Jones is ducking: 1) has started watching after covid 2) has never competed in a high level sport in their life. You think Jones as a competitor would duck Tom Aspinall? His first title defense was against Rampage Jackson if you have ever heard of that guy. He was a real teddy bear

Jon Jones is the fighter for the average low-information fan who understands zero nuance in the sport; they appeal to his record without context, and they don't know the opponents he fought and their histories. All they see is a chart with Jon on top and then the thinking stops. They stomp around arrogantly pretending to know what they're talking about, repeating the same script like hivemind simpletons.
