Good video. Im slowly becoming the main mechanical caretaker of a 1925 water-powered grist mill, and this may come in handy when i go to restoring the drive functions and associated belts on this

if you can get a metal comb belt lacer you'll appreciate how easy it is to get the belts on and off for repairs, but traditional stitched splices do look nice with a bit of practice. I read this out of a 19th century farming technology book reprint and those can provide good insight into repairs, maintenance, and use of old equipment.

@@henrybangsberg2187 do you have a link for said book? Sounds intriguing. The belts on the mill currently are a mix of clipper and hand laced. Love this old tech

@@JerryWick unfortunately I don't remember the name of the book I read about this in. Take good photos of the existing lacing if you have to remove it and that will help with replacement. It's interesting that they did hand-laced belts at all in 1925 since clipper/comb splices were basically universal by then.
