Thanks for the shout out John. As far as some of the guys mentioning putting aluminum or metal on the surface, I thought about that for a hot second and was concerned that it might absorb heat from the friction and the work piece so decided against it. Wood has such poor thermal qualities I left it as is. I've been using mine for well over a year and it shows no sign of wear.

ScoutCrafter I certainly know what you mean about time flying. I worked as a health physicist (radiological engineer) in my younger days. It seemed like only yesterday I bought this can filled with uranium powder. After watching your video, I went looking for it, found it, and opened it up. It was half gone. Turns out that I had bought it 4.5 billion years ago. Time sure flies. (smile)

Bloody hell Scout, is there anything you don’t have. I just love that platten idea, so simple yet so smart. It’s a beautiful spring day here in Canberra, Australia. Clear and cool and 18 deg. Everything is coming into bloom and even my bonsais have burst out of hibernation. I don’t know where you get your enthusiasm and ideas for you videos Scout or the time to make them all but there are a lot of people that get a lot of joy from them. You’re a good man Scout Crafter. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺

On most days I try to get my “jobs” done in the morning so I can “play” in the afternoon. I get about 3 weeks in winter when it’s to cold to be in my tin workshop and about 6 weeks in summer when I’m outa there by 10 - 11 am because of the heat. I would love to have a basement. Stuart.

I got two pieces of uraninite from the german Erzgebirge (ore mountains). From the area of the former Wismut mining company. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wismut_(mining_company) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ore_Mountains The mining workers earned double the salary of a normal worker in the country. They also got coupons to buy 2 liters of hard liquor per month tax free, sometimes they got an additional ration of another 2 liters. That was a special liquor made for miners only, nicknamed "pitman's death". Bottle shown here: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a7/Bergarbeitertrinkbranntwein_Duerrroehrsdorf.jpg Translation of the label: taxfree potable spirits for miners 32 vol.%, the prices for 0.5 (0.8 M) liters and 0.7 liters (1.12 M). They didn't make two separate labels for the different volumes. resale will be prosecuted! Manufacturer is "Gustav Müller liqueur manufacturing" That was a very low price, for 0.8 M you got a bar of chocolate substitute...I say substitute because the cocoa level was very low, only 7%. The rest was cocoa fat, hazel nuts, grinded peas. It is still in production, but now with 32 % cocoa. That reminds me of some old east-german jokes: - What if socialism is introduced in the desert? Nothing for a while, then sand becomes scarce... -What are the four deadly enemies of the socialism? Winter, autumn, summer and spring. -Why do Stasi-officers make such good taxi drivers? You get in, they already know who you are and where you live. So much for "no sense of humour"... :-P

Awesome video John!! I've always wanted a Geiger Counter, now I can purchase one knowing I'm not that crazy! You always impress me with the vast array of collections you own. And about that first MTech, that is from what I can tell quite an old design, probably from somewhere in europe. bladeforums.com/threads/fred-perrin-quattro.538611/ found this thread on blade forum with very little info on it, but as one can see there were manufacturers making them in Russia and Czeckoslovakia some time ago. I've seen quite a few on ebay all coming from east european countries as well as the more modern one coming from all over the place. So it is actually a new old antique. For any of the viewers that speak german, there seems to be a thread on messerforum about the knife. Thanks for the video mate, take care!!!
