Started printing 5 years ago, but then took a 2 year hiatus after my trusty ender 3 became unreliable due to a glitch I could not troubleshoot. Came back to FDM printing a month ago with the Bambu Lab A1 and was blown away by how much entry level 3D printers have improved. I had done a lot of upgrades to my Ender 3 over my 3 years of printing and had probably spent almost double what I paid for the A1 and still only had about half the features. Now that I have a reliable printer again I have been designing things like crazy again like the good old days. I am now using the A1 to print a new set of upgrades to convert my old Ender 3 into a TPU beast. Here is hoping I can get her running again and set up to fill a niche that my A1 with AMS would struggle with

I am a machinist by trade and was starting to learn solidworks for programming the CNC machines. I got tired of drawing all sorts of stuff but getting nothing out of it. 3 years ago I bought an ender 3 s1 pro. All of a sudden I was using/learning solidworks a lot more now that I could make stuff as well. The shop I work at now has all sorts of stuff that we use all of the time that I designed and printed. In December I made the jump and bought a new Creality K2 plus printer with the CMS. I gotta say, I am thoroughly impressed. I printed a 4 color benchy in 22 minutes and a single color benchy in 13 minutes. My poor s1 pro has been getting lonely now days. I will keep it at least until I use up all of my standard petg. With the K2 plus 350mm build plate, I can print so much more in a single print. What took me 4 different prints to make all of the parts for one project, I can fit all of the parts in 1.5 prints now. The only downside to the new high speed printers is having to reinvest in high speed filaments now.

I bought an X1C earlier this year and I will buy an A1 Mini before the current sale ends. Bambu (and other companies catching up to Bambu) have managed to take away the biggest obstacle to me getting into 3d printing earlier--the tinkering. I didn't want to deal with all of the tinkering I heard about from folks I knew who owned earlier 3d printers talked about. I'm glad I waited, and it's been a great thing for our home. I got into Multiboard and started designing things for us to use around the house. I put up a 4'x3' wall in my wife's craft room and designed open-ended vases for her to hang bunches of fake flowers on the board, which frees up space on her crafting tables.

The p1s was my second 3d printer. I started with an ender and while it worked I spent more time tuning and tweaking the printer than I did actually printing. That changed a year ago when I upgraded to the p1s. It just worked out of the box, complicated prints just work with ease. For a weekend hobbyist these are great 3d printers to consider.

It I can create something out of nothing. Never before has it been so easy & affordable for everyday working man, to design & build an item.

Watching your video was like looking in the mirror...Bambu Labs just informed me that my printer has shipped! Along with an AMS and a lot of filament. I purchased it for printing woodworking jigs and components like you; discovered printing photos in 3d was another creative avenue (I have been an avid photographer along with woodworking for many years) I had not anticipated; and have a bunch of young nieces and nephews who will be excited to play with any of the very cool toys that are easily available to print. What have I gotten myself into? Your video convinced me: what ever it is, it will be a lot of fun! Thanks.

You should print one of the AMS Desiccant box solutions and get some desiccant (that you can recharge using an old microwave or food dehydrator) to put in it. Dry filament will print better because the water content inside tends to boil out when printing causing little defects in your prints. I have one in my AMS and it keeps the humidity in the AMS at 10-15%.

Only thing that concerns me is price per print. For example, how much was it to print each of the painter triangles given you said at HD they are about $3?
@ToolShow16 күн бұрын
That's a good question. It obviously all depends on how much plastic you need. Those paint triangles are an easy win. A pack of 10 from HomeDepot is $6.70. I can print 10 in about 90 minutes, for $0.40. But you can easily get into more expensive stuff pretty quick. That Triceratops we printed cost $7.08. Reasonable for a toy. The "Tool Show" logo ornament costs $1.26.

As a parent of 4, I have quite a bit of experience in this arena. Because the world doesn't all follow the same rules in this space, you're gonna have to be a clever parent. If they say "Wait, how is that from Santa?" You can reply with "I don't know, Bocabu Jr. Maybe Santa drops off gifts early at Rob and Sarah's house! That's so unfair! I'm gonna have to ask our Elf on the Shelf about that one!" If you're going to lie to your kids for fun (Which as I mentioned before, I chose to do as well) you're gonna have to be a GOOD liar. :) So sorry if I ruined Christmas! It wasn't my intention!

I also have an XL, and while it doesn't produce hardly any waste, everyone knows they are very expensive. But I bet so far I've saved 100's of dollars in non wasted filament. (I print multi material a lot) All because of the different tool heads. Plus multi color and multi material prints are faster on the XL, because it doesn't need to poop.

@Jordaneal21 күн бұрын
@@archbound6224 I can, easily. The Elegoo Neptune 4 Plus has a better value than the Bambu Lab P1S. For $340, you're getting almost the same print speeds (500 mm/s), a much bigger build volume (320x320x400 mm vs. 256x256x256 mm), and solid performance for PLA and PETG without paying for unnecessary extras like an enclosure. At $800, the P1S costs over twice as much, and those extra features don't add enough for most prints to justify it. With the $460 you save, you could buy upgrades, more filament, or even a second Neptune. It's just a more intelligent choice for the price.
