This documentary is itself a greatly energising and uplifting experience. What an undescribable experience must it be to be in the presence of Svaami'ji himself and to listen to him direct! It is beyond my mind's imagination. I will put in my sincerest effort to broadcast this powerful message to one and all, regardless of their national or religious identification. I feel blessed to be born in the land where the Masters have walked. Jay Maa! Jay Guru Maharaaj'ji! Jay Svaami'ji! 🙏

"India's ancient soul awakened in a modern mind ". Really liked this. Even today after 75 years of our independence we are still clinging towards our dark colonial past by demeaning people of our own race in terms of skin colour and caste segregations .

How human are responsible in this world for own destruction . One idea developed by one and hate created by other becomes destruction of other ideas . This hate has no solution and stoppage.
@Arunabha2 жыл бұрын
My expectation would be for a far better one. While much of it is praiseworthy, it conveys a truncated view of Swamiji's 'Swadesh Chetana', and in certain ways it contradicts him. (1) The documentary oversimplifies the history of India and doesn't represent Swamiji's views on it. The history of ancient India is not all about glory, nor that of the late medieval period all about ruin (see his 'Letters' and 'Modern India'). There were no vast, stable empires in ancient or early medieval India, expect for the short-lived Mauryan and the loosely held Gupta empires. India was politically fragmented most of the time, and not in the late medieval era alone. (2) What is mentioned as Islamic invasion was not something representing Islam or its great Arab or Persian empires, but Turkish ones (according to Swamiji in his 'The East and the West'). Invasion and wars brought destruction all over the world, so did fanatical frenzy, but along with that, Islam brought the message of salvation for the oppressed poor (according to Swamiji in his 'Letters'). The Mughals did establish a vast, stable, prosperous empire, and they became very much Indians, and culture flourished again, unlike in the Maratha and Sikh empires (according to Swamiji in his 'Historical Evolution of India' and 'The Master As I Saw Him' by Sister Nivedita). Also there should have been a mention of the contributions of the Tamil and the aboriginals, as Swamiji did. (3) As for inequity, it was always there, all over the world, and in ancient India too. Caste became rigid roughly two thousand years ago, according to genetic studies. From the Vedanta Sutra to Artha Shastra and Grihya Sutras, priests discriminated against the toiling masses, the Shudras, and Fa Hien mentions untouchability way back in the 7th century AD. Later on it deteriorated further. The forest dwellers and the like were marginalized. But Swamiji said, "Let new India arise" from their huts and shops. (4) Swamiji did not make a new 'model' called Practical Vedanta for nation-building, but he, of course, wanted to bring the Vedanta into practice in order to rebuild the nation - not so much at the spiritual level as in the material life of the messes - through proper education. He wanted to thus equip the masses to create their own destiny, by building up a strong and healthy "public opinion" that can influence the state and can inspire revolutions against the established orders if needed (see 'My Plan of Campaign' and 'Modern India'). This is not clear from the documentary. (5) His central emphasis was on building the life and character of the future workers - the change agents - the youths in particular, to begin with. (6) There should have been a little mention of the positive contributions of the British in India. They brought about the friction that roused India. (7) Mahatma Gandhi or Nehru hardly followed the lines suggested by Swamiji. Sister Nivedita and Netaji Subhas did that. We need to discriminate and find out who stood for what. Moreover, there should have been a mention of the revolutionaries inspired by Swamiji's message.

How did Swami Vivekananda ask Sri Ramakrishna if he had seen God? It is true he could have only asked this question of someone like Sri Ramakrishna. He came to know of Sri Ramakrishna through an Englishman who was a teacher in his college or university. It is not recorded whether he asked his own mother or father about God, even though his mother was a very devout believer.
