And they create this strawman out of legitimate religious homophobia by failing to understand how religious homophobia works. Nobody boils plain water on the stove with salt and pepper, calls it “holy water”, and thinks sticking to a door will make men straight. This movie is horrible and you obviously don’t get excommunicated from the Catholic Church for having a gay brother (or even being gay yourself), but the Pope’s words of support for gay marriage have already been revoked. The Church does not support LGBT rights and still considers homosexuality (or „homosexual deeds”, but it’s not really realistic to expect anyone to spend the rest of their lives in celibate) a sin. It depends on the place, but here in my country the priests call gay people degenerates and compare them to the coronavirus.
@dragonslayersworkshop85983 жыл бұрын
That’s awful. One of the main reasons I don’t like religion is because of all the homophobia that gets thrown around by particularly religious folks. I’m not too deeply religious, but I’d believe that God/Jesus would want people to come as they go, regardless of who they love and that kind of stuff.
@theman64223 жыл бұрын
@@dragonslayersworkshop8598 yeah. That’s what he wanted. That’s what Jesus preached. The problem here, is that everyone apparently forgot the time Jesus said “love your neighbor as you would love yourself, no matter if they’ve sinned or not”. It’s like traditional churches and Christians just abuse the bible so people can listen to them, when that is the thing Jesus didn’t want. Also, I don’t even believe homosexuality as a sin. Jesus nor God said that it was a sin, all they said was be nice to people, be charitable, and pray to big J in the sky. Really, it’s just the christian beliefs being twisted so then older folks can use it to defend their wrong opinions. I will support love, much like Jesus did when he was alive
@ptlemon11013 жыл бұрын
@@dragonslayersworkshop8598 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32 For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him." Matthew 21:31-32. It's says prostitutes and tax collectors, but it could have been any type of sinner. If they can do it, so can homosexual people tbh

For all aspiring future writers/filmmakers please take this one piece of advice... Before it is anything (diverse/lgbtq friendly/positive message etc.) your film needs to be enjoyable... This doesn't mean your it needs to be good it just means that whoever watches it shouldn't be walking away believing they wasted their time.
@Nolan657753 жыл бұрын
I don't think the final moments of the film are just a reference, It's like word-for-word a reenactment of it just replaced the names. I don't know if the guy behind it all got lazy or just a huge fan of that movie, or at least that segment of it, but when I first saw Red Letter Media's video on it and they talked about the ending and heard the dialogue from the clip they were showing, it was just too much. I then looked it up and saw for myself how close it was both strange and kinda suspicious. Honestly didn't know how any of them didn't address it or comment on it.
