Ex kayaker here, paddled huka falls & f ' Ed up on pencil section before the drop, went over sideways, dislocated shoulder & nearly drowned. .... that was the end of that dream 😢

The flow doesn't depend upon rain. The flow is controlled from Lake Taupo a few kms away for hydro--electric generation, and it varies hugely. So you need to "choose the right day". I have witnessed the variation...from the safety of the base of the falls.

Do you guys reckon it would be a higher chance of surviving jumping from the rock off the side people do it but its the under tow and currents id be scared of i walked right up to the edge and though about it but its a death wish u less you jump in the perfect spot people do it and im sure there id a high chance of surviving compared to kyaking off it
