I've recently learned about my own dark origins and about the nature of life, and this song appeared for me at a critical point of my journey. It is what many would consider evil and blasphemous, but it is more true than any holy book or hymn, and that irony is lost on the so called righteous. I relate to this on a very deep level. Your voice, like a bellows, stokes the flames of passion, forging crude truth into fine and beautiful music.
@Anthaghoull5 жыл бұрын
I am kinda writing a book... a novel. And this song pushed me to do it. Here's a little fragment ( context : both guys are dead, living in hell, hell is not so bad, they work there, they are currently in a pub on earth ): "Levi : - You know, I found that with every little mistake and regret and tear shed, your eyes open more and more to the colours of the world, and it's beautiful, and it's mad, but it is not yet done. You now see the storm, yes? But what do you do? Do you try to face the wind, sails tied and a prayer? Or do you wait out the rain in some cozy hole in the bay? - he paused, and then after a sigh somewhere at the border between acceptance and despair, he continued - And now look at us mate. In a hole, drinking our shit off. What a bloody spectacular way to spend one's afterlife! Terry said nothing, and looked, and sought, but there were no answers at the bottom of his glass. Ah! Sadly, abandon will not do either, he thought. But he drank anyway. He didn't need answers now. It was kinda too late. He needed to undo himself and the knot that formed earlier in his throat, and answers... He will have forever to look for them. The rain was pouring down as if to drown the world. Thunder clashed with the storm left unsaid between the two. The storm grew fond of that place and did not plan to leave." Thanks, Ben! You were what I needed most when I lacked any compass in my life, and now I grew very fond of the idea to visit Canada and come see you perform. It would be one of the most fantastic things I would achieve in this life, as you are great beyond what my poor words can say.

I discovered Mr Caplan yesterday and I think I've listened to almost every song on every album and I am amazed by every one of them but this one in particular has me fixated and fascinated by the lyrics. It's the whole song but mostly the second to last verse that begins with "We have given you all Adam" and ends with "For the days are run by those who haven't slept".... I would love it so much if @BenCaplan could explain the meaning behind this song especially that verse and or the story behind it. I don't feel like cracking open the Bible is going to do much good here somehow, although I could be wrong.
