Loved this podcast.. Whatever and Ever Amen is one of my top albums.. I heard that album for the first time in Tower Records way over here in Singapore.. It really brings me back to 97.. being in Junior College (Senior High), listening to the CD on the bus back home.. with the girl I liked back then, so many memories! And gosh I'd be banging away on my imaginary keys... harmonizing.. esp on Fair.. all is fair.. all is fair.. in love.. and now I'm in my 40s doing the same thing in my car :) Honestly, Brick was my least favourite! think 'cos it was so overplayed and that's the only that people knew! And man I live them live! Their Complete Sessions at West 54th has some great performances.. and you're right I love Ben Folds solo stuff but when it's the 3 of them there's a certain magic that can't be recreated.. I'm so glad I discovered them back then in my teens. It was only after this album I listened to their first album which has Where's Summer B.. which is an awesome awesome track.. Ah well I can go on.. Great music does that doesn't it? Keep up the great work!

I love this album. I saw them in the unauthorized tour with Guster opening up for them. It was incredible! And later it became even more meaningful. When my marriage hit shipwreck “Selfless Cold and Composed” was the soundtrack to that time. “And you just smile like a bank teller, like your telling me have a nice life”. That and Tom Waits 😬 Anyway this album is beautiful. Thanks for showcasing it. Edit to add: Evaporated has that really delicate “see” at the end of the bridge that just wrecked me.

„Brick“ is on this right? I read it’s about abortion and never really knew what to do with the line „she’s a brick and I’m drowning slowly“ in that particular context 😬
