Changes that would make football so much better to watch: - refs actually enforcing the 6 seconds rule for goalkeepers, and counting as soon as they have control of the ball - stop clock, even if it means reducing the game to 70 or 80 minutes, the time wasting and inconsistency with added time is super annoying as a spectator. - offside to be judged by the feet and nothing else, obvious solution that barely gets talked about for some reason - replace current English officials with literally anyone with a triple digit IQ, would be a massive improvement over what we have currently - mic up the referees and VAR so we actually have a clue as to what’s going on
@onlarry1304
@onlarry1304 2 жыл бұрын
The offside feet rule wouldn’t work because it could only be applied for var, the other 90% of offsides that dont lead to goal thats just judged by the linemen it would make it impossible for them to just look at the feet

I don't agree on the first one. It should only be considered when the intention is malicious, and most of the times, it might just be the keeper trying to get a get a good hold under pressure or looking for a good pass.z
@Stephen_Platt
@Stephen_Platt 2 жыл бұрын
6 second rule needs enforcing. Saying that, I play as a GK and I have on countless occasions dropped on the ball when I didn’t need to just to waste a few seconds. Got compared to Jordan Pickford by one opponent 🤣 Offside is meant to be any part of the body that the player can score with. Which is why VARs are incompetent. Giving offside cos his elbow’s off? You can’t score with your elbow!!! 🤦🏻‍♂️ Don’t think a stop-clock should be used to stop time-wasting, referees just need to clamp down on it.

My god. Liecester won the title by being the master of the dark arts. The "dark arts" go a lot further than feigning injury. It is deeply entrenched in the game. Watch every corner kick in every game and there are at least 10 fouls being committed every time. Both by forwards and defenders. The game can not be officiated because that is an impossibility. The amount of importance that is attached to the whole game is ridiculous.

Referees want objectivity in the game. The problem with that is the rules you end up with are what you see today. A foul is measured by if there was contact with the player, not how much contact is made. Players dive because they know that. If you want less simulation, then refereeing has to be open to interpretation.

They're a difference between dark arts & cheating, driving is cheating, your trying to con the referee (a la Luis Suarez & Jamie bardy), going diem if you've had real contact, even if you could start up, is not the end of the world, though I don't like when strikers kick the ball away from goal then leave a trailing leg to touch the Gk & get a pen. Keeping the ball in the corner & cynical found aren't great, they're not part of the purists have, but are perfectly acceptable & understandable

I think if a player is found out to be simulating and VAR catches a player out trying to either win a penalty or get a player sent off (Gordon against Villa pretending he had been hit in the face for example) then it should be a red card. Would soon stop all the cheating.
@kurtsudheim825
@kurtsudheim825 2 жыл бұрын
I said that a decade ago, when they eventually made diving a yellow card offender & everyone applauded, I said but enough, it's cheating ffs, bar the intent to injure someone (violent conduct), it's the wrist thing in the game, yet if things get a little heated & you just place your head against someone elses (in nit taking head but), that's a red, or a late tackle it accidentally having your fit a bit high & catching sunshine even when your focus was on the ball, ridiculous

He was simulating injury after being tackled, rolled around 10 times, realizes he's not on the pitch, rolls back on to continue simulation, and the ref has to stop the play. I spit on such things... zero respect. Mason Mount does it for Chelsea too. god, I hate the newest generation of England internationals! Luis Suárez also used the dark arts, but in a different way and you all hated him for it. I once saw a player miss a penalty on purpose because it wasn't a penalty. they didn't want to win unfairly, so he missed on purpose after being "fouled". I remember that, I just don't remember who it was, lets look it up on youtube... was it Klinsmann? or Klose? I think it was a German.

Darren is spot on about England fans being alright with it if it won them a tournament. Football is full of hypocrite fans. If their team takes ages and wastes time to secure three points, they’re all for it, but if another team does it, then suddenly, the game is gone! Also, I’ve noticed that known divers like Mo Salah, barely go down in the box anymore, because of VAR. if it’s stopped players like him diving then I’m all for it.

"Dark Arts" meaning grown adult Men acting like Children. Also, time wasting ruins the game. If the clock was stopped none of this ridiculous behavior would take place. Players would not be wasting time as much because wasting time isn't needed. Play 30 to 35 minute halfs with the clock stopping on dead balls. The game would be exactly as long as 90 minute games.
@cherries4life387
@cherries4life387 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with stopping the clock, but should just play 40 min halfs, no need for added time because the clock is stopped. Just like Rugby. Professional footballers are fit enough to play 80 mins with the ball in play, and would be a much better watch.
@Loop1977

Isn’t the extra time at the end of every match the result of the official stopping his clock for any dead ball then start it again after the ball has been kicked. Idk so I’m asking, but don’t corners, goal kicks etc all contribute to the amount of extra time? How the officials figure out the amount of extra minutes after 90 has always been a mystery to me. Sometimes it seems like it would be 15 min because of injury etc, but it’s always seems less than expected or more when expecting little.

@@Loop1977 I see what you're saying and yes technically games should be 15 to 20 minutes longer considering how much dead ball time there is. But what happens in games is time wasting and if the clock stopped players wouldn't need to waste time anymore or the team that's losing wouldn't get so angry about the winning team wasting time. The Ref would no longer control the time. The game would end exactly on time. We would also possibly get buzzer beating goals with everyone knowing exactly how much time is on the clock. It would create so much excitement for the fans and improve the sport.

@@Bodhi594 I agree it would eliminate the shithousery, actually in America the NCAA div 1 futbol does a countdown and stops the time on dead balls just like you said. I watched one college game this year not all of it never saw end of half or end of game just bits and pieces and I was wondering why the clock was in reverse. I’m just now remembering that. They wouldn’t be doing it if it didn’t make for more excitement, maybe it will gain some momentum.

@@Loop1977 Yeah college football does do that. I live here in the US. Yes, our Profesional Sports leagues all count down not up except for the MLS. Took me a bit to get used to seeing the clock not stop and count up when I first started watching Football. But I do really think if Football in Europe tried experimenting with clock stoppage it would make the game so much more controlled. They would have to cut the time of the game clock to around 30 to 35 minute halfs. What would also be nice is everyone in the stadium and at home would know exactly how much time is on the clock. No more of the Ref just adding time whenever He wants or blowing the whistle whenever He wants when the game is over. Take for example the City vs Atletico Champions League game. The 2nd game of that tie was a complete disaster and I think it had to do with time wasting and also Atletico panicking because on every dead ball they were trying to get City to hurry up. With a stopped clock everyone can relax a bit and the game will feel much more controlled. Just my opinion on the whole thing. 🤷

I'm sorry but this was inherited. British players of the past did not involve themselves in the same behaviour 🤔 😳 I don't mean all dark arts but in particular: the push by players to get opponent's sent off, the cheating by diving and simulation most of all. This was always used by foreign teams at world cups and euros, but with the premier league being what it is and the importation of superb and class foreign players over the years - cheating crept in. Now we see British players do it regular. It stinks. Simulation is a joke it's cheating. Remember what Ronaldo done to Rooney? Remember José Mourinho highlighted his compatriots cheating as the way theynbrought up (diving etc) then poor graeme souness getting dug for talking about South American diving etc. The Argentina players over the years and south Americans in particular the simulations, portugués like José called out, Italy even. You know we are in a bad situation when people have to apologise for telling the truth. I know the host apologised on his behalf but not the point

English players and media word it differently depending on their agenda. For example: an English player wastes time as a sub or throw in = good game management. A foreign player does it and it becomes time wasting and something the ref needs to address. Another example is: An english player dives or intentionally hurts an opponent and it becomes crafty and dark arts creeping into the english game. Yet a foreign player does it and they are labelled a cheat etc.
