He could still play or coach in the NBA. The most exciting college player I’d ever seen. Checkout the video of him going head-to-head against Michael Jordan and that great 1996 Bulls team. Jackson called a time out, because he needed someone to stop Mahmoud (action Jackson) Jordan couldn’t cover him, so they put Ron Harper on him. He couldn’t guard him, so they ran two guys at him and Mahmoud split them several times to score. The Bulls were on an 18 game winning streak and it stopped that night due to Mahmoud. Phil Jackson said he was unguardable.

This dude could have and should have been the Curry of his time. He was ahead of his era. When we talk about Curry being the face of the new NBA, what we should really be talking about is this guy. His ability to shoot the ball, his footwork and his handles were all as good, if not better than Steph. Like I said, he was head of his time, and his skills were never meant for the slower pace of the NBA when he played. Put him on a team that ran the space-and-pace basketball of today, he would have easily put up 30 points a night. I hope all the young talent learn a thing or two from this guy. He definitely deserves a lot more credit than he is given.

@mistadavis43369 жыл бұрын
He was no more a defensive liability than any other point guard of that era...He was not a top tier defender but he was sufficient...his offensive prowess more than made up for what you think he lacked defensively...I can remember the white jew media saying this, the same thing they say about Michael Beasley and Gerald Green..When someone has superstar ability and THEY don't want him to be a superstar they will apply a negative tag to that person...And who could Steve Nash hold???? That was something you were taught subliminally through listening to the bullshit media...
@garagegeekguy9 жыл бұрын
+Mista Davis I'm a big Rauf fan, I was always pulling for him. When I say he was a defensive liability, I mean that he was a below average defensive player. I said nothing else, inferred nothing else and truly meant nothing else. I've seen a lot of great players at LSU and he was the best.

Recognize this living b-ball legend. He was a national monster at LSU and just an out-and -out phenom. Great article on him in Sports Illustrated if you archive it. I think he was Chris Johnson before he found Islam. He dealt with extreme OCD and took medications for Turret's Syndrome all while he played. A brilliant player and a serious, well-spoken and complex man. Still ripping it UP the last time I saw him playing 3-ball.

For sure! Same thing I thought while watching...the only way to get it is to put in the godly amount of reps, understand WHY you are doing it and to connect the body and breath...he was a smaller explosive guard it's hard to teach this play style to a bigger guard who can use his body effectively and can't really use all that energy to add that snap to all his moves. My stepson is probably going to be built more like James Harden, so I show him clips of Mahmoud to show him how lethal he can become with a serious work ethic but to also show him what it is to have that DAWG in him. Harden is efficient but not really a dawg like Mahmoud, Westbrook, etc. Westbrook would benefit from working with Mahmoud now that I think about it...especially in regard to his three point shooting.
@A1Cforcedair3 жыл бұрын
He is over 50 and one of the best point guards in the game. He gave MJ hell numerous times and before he converted to Islam he asked Magic and Air Jordan to back him for the national anthem denial and they left him hanging. Craig Hodges converted next same question asked of them and he was black balled! Interesting how he dominated Cube's Big 3 and Now most guards in the league today dive at the opportunity to train with him. I watched him when he was on the Denver Nuggets and I was stationed at Lowery Air Force Base. The Best athlete and he shut Uncle Drew down in the Big 3 Championship Game.
