Don't sleep on Ben Holladay! They make some great stuff! I happen to be in town for the offering too bad they only had 6 cases and it went fast. I did get a taste the finish is so good!

As Missouri is the Show Me state, this is a Missouri bourbon that really lives up to the name. I was lucky enough to get a bottle, and really enjoy it!

Truly whiskey KZbinrs are the tabloids of the internet. You have to hand it to great marketing on Bourbon Lores part, and I’m sure other paid-membership groups will learn a lot about getting buzz generated. Some other commenter said something about objective and honest reviews. Really? The whole commercial advert, free product and messaging entirely in line with the brands didn’t like…trip any bells? As great as KZbinrs are, they’re no Maggie Kimberl or minnick, they rarely highlight brands, craft stories or have sources for the whole journalistic angle. This is just good ole brands proliferating brands, and their is nothing wrong with that, with the understanding that any further discussion about the products begins and ends with approved talking points. Also it’s a race to maintain eyes when Jason/junkies/sob are all getting the same email.

Assuming you’re referencing my comment. In my opinion, this seems like the most honest and unbiased review so far. They didn’t make outlandish comments what I took from this video is that it’s good and unique. Now, that being said, I totally agree with you. There has clearly been a ton of money invested into hyping this and I won’t make my recommendation or thought on it until I’ve tried it. I got a similar vibe with Junkies and some others.

I was on Bourbon outfitters 5 minutes early and it said sold out every time I refreshed it from then on. So if it sold out in 59 seconds then it was at 7:54am EST. Which sucks after all their marketing said it would go on sale at 8:00am EST. I’m sure the juice is good, but shit like that is a fool’s errand. Ultimately it’s my own dumbass fault for believing I had a chance in the first place.

The hype on this 18 barrel blend … continues. The Bourbon Lore folks put some effort into this release. Check out the slick video of their trip to Holladay. The majority of reviewers like it but I would like to see how it does in a blind with comparable whiskeys.

This is why I don’t chase overhyped, limited release bottles. I’ve gotten tired of refreshing my screen every 15 seconds only to have the bottle post on the website with “Sold Out” listed. Why even bother to post it when it’s basically sold out before it even gets to the public.

It was 2,982 (almost 3,000) which is 166 750ml bottles/barrel. Not a strange yield at all for an aged bourbon.

Very true. We had a yield of 85 bottles from a 13 year barrel and 220 from a 5 year before, but those are extreme examples. 166 on average seems pretty normal for a 7 year.

We were sent a bottle. If you look in our description of our video under disclaimers you'll see that we disclosed that information. We always disclose when we are sent a bottle. However, we didn't agree to do a review in exchange for the bottle because once you do that, you might feel temptation to give it a positive review. We just said yes, you can send us a bottle. Then we were told we could be suppled with our own link and discount code for our audience if we wanted. We had no obligation to use the link, though, which should be obvious since we never end up using it.

I was tipped by Bourbon Enthusiast on X, he shared a link to sign up for the prerelease. They sent when they said they'd send it. It was Weston. I went to the link and easily ordered my bottles. Yes, bottles 4 of them. Apparently there wasn't a limited on the pre-release sale and that's where things went sideways. We here in Arkansas we're well aware of Holliday and their Nectar of the Gods goodness that is their Soft Red Wheat BiB and Rickhouse Proof. I see so many reviewing their regular whiskey and asking what the hype is, first off wrong product, lol. Get the Soft Red Wheat fellas.

The marketing for this bottle is silly. It's a blend of the same stuff you get in single barrels but not blended to any specific profile, just blended to be a bigger batch. Not sure why people paid extra over the price of just a single barrel of Ben Holladay (which are pretty easy to geta hold of for $80)

As an Arizona local who has been bombarded with barrage after barrage of their really bad ads. What definitely annoyed the hell out of me is that the entirety of Whiskey Tube helped promote this nonsense. The guy isn't in the community of whiskey people around here. So I guess I want to know, what did they pay for such promotion? Anyone around here purchasing their 25k/year membership?
