Had the opportunity to taste this Saturday at Holladay distillery. It is fantastic! Unfortunately I didn’t get a bottle as it sold out of their allotment in 45 min. I was in line when they broke the news to us. Did meet a member of the Bourbon Lore team Emerson Shotwell, and he was gracious enough to offer my son and I a hat from their collection. Did get a chance to purchase a bottle Monday on their site. Seriously impressed with this bottle.

Actually, a mind is a terrible thing to waste 🙃 Based on direct communication from the source. They claim to have sold out within 2 min. If you decide to believe that bs , why was their system notifying me the product was in stock for purchase via text. 2nd option, the product was sold out essentially prior to release and this was a a shit show of email/ phone number harvesting. Third option is the miniscule few of the population somehow able to navigate their website purchase checkout process... "not likely 'in less than 2 minutes, not overwhelming the servers at peak traffic Something to consider 🤔. Needlessly I will not be using their services.. and will delete my account data unfortunately

That's really pretty cool. I've had the Ben Holladay bottled in bond and honestly I wasn't that impressed. It wasn't bad, however I don't believe I would purchase it again. When I brought this up to my buddy-same buddy that turned me onto your channel. He said Ben Holladay offers alot that we don't have access to in Ohio. I think I would be up to trying one of their others.

I'm inclined to agree. $60 is steep for a BiB. Too many other great bourbons at that price point. If it was in the $40 range then it would be a rebuy.

Jason you touch on `mouthfeel` which definitely elevates the whole experience of enjoying a dram thats why I always go for non-chill- filtered if possible. I bought a Sagamore ( my first ) Sherry finished rye which is nicely viscous & enjoyable, & a very buttery Smoke Wagon U & U, both worth the extra over & above the run-of-the-mill bigger brands. This BH sounds terrific & one I`d definitely purchase.

Well, that was a total waste of time. Logged on at 11, added a bottle to my cart. Got through checkout. Was about to hit "Submit purchase" and bottle was dumped out of my cart and was told it was sold out. Bourbon Outfitter is apparently the Ticketmaster of retail bourbon purchase experiences. First and last time I try them for anything. Anyway, love the channel! Keep up the great reviews.

Sounds interesting but I’m not following the 18 barrel blend. What versions of their whiskey went into the blend. Did I miss that? Which rickhouses the barrels came from don’t help me know what is in the barrel. Help!

All the barrels were between 7-8 years old from the various locations shown in the video. It's there rye bourbon mashbill. Not there wheated.

$100 for a 7 year blended bourbon. Okay, what exactly am I paying for here, versus a bottle of Buffalo Trace or Wild Turkey 101, at the same age (or older) and 1/4 the price? I hate to be the hater, since everyone is so big on hyping Ben Holladay, but I've tried their standard high-rye bourbon and their soft red wheat, which are both good but not great and not worth the price.

I see what you're saying here but I'd rather drink this over Buffalo Trace every day of the week. Is BT cheaper? Yup but thats up to you and what you want to spend. This is a far superior experience to a 90 proof bourbon from Buffalo Trace and WT 101 IMO. This is coming from a Wild Turkey fanboy. You cant compare the pricing power of a newer distillery vs a heritage distiller than makes so much volume in order top get those prices down so low. I mean you can...but its a relatively unfair comparison.

I mean, Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey are about as "meh" as you can get. Not that that is bad, but VERY basic...nothing stands out. I have no idea what this Ben Holladay will be or if it's worth it, but there is a reason that regular Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey are $20 bottles....basic.

Holladay has done these custom small batch blends before. Hyvee had a 56ish barrel blend that was good, I think it was the SRW. 1856 original is much better
