It's great and it's reminds me of Elbow in their prime live performances. If you haven't heard them, watch them with orchestra. It also has a bit of influence from Paolo Nutini latest album. I think there is a natural progression to make more mature and multi instrumental powerhouse music to be defined as "classic" and respected artists and I think that Ben Howard has done that with these recent live performances.

indeed, thank you for the recommendations, cheers

Loved Ben since Every Kingdom, he's incredible. I've always said if he was around 20-30 years ago he'd be a huge household name like Bowie etc. Unfortunately now he's diluted amongst generic paint by numbers pop. He's one of the most talented musicians of this generation. Furthermore, How does he keep getting better?! Cant wait to see him in June.

Bowie's a weird comparison. Bowie dressed as a woman and pretended to be a Nazi in public and can't remember making an album because he was on to much drugs. Don't think Ben is much of a provocateur.

Clumsy Sandbocks I'm not comparing Ben to Bowie musically or personally. Just in terms of scope and how he should be appreciated musically.
@clumsysandbocks56506 жыл бұрын
Oh okay. Dunno though. Folk like Tim Buckley never made it big in the 60-70's with similiar music. Ben being a sub-headliner at festivals after barely three albums seems pretty fair.

My take is, if I may. Ben is the "entertainer" through his initiation and subsequent relinquishment from the struggles of the real world in return for his compliance, at least non-blatant he gets to watch our world go to hell. His girl sits reading evacuation procedure for when that time comes. Finally the nature of the universe in which his karma gives him another life as an entertainer, to watch it all play out again, perpetually. Sorry if these come across as the ravings of a mad man, I can no longer tell if the world's gone mad, or if it's me.

My favourite song of the year so far and I know the album is going to be a masterpiece. Does anyone else agree with me when I say that I'm a little disappointed that nat wasons guitar was too quiet?
