One of the best ideas to hit the shotgun sports world when it comes to eye dominance issues. This product was designed by a world champion and a world champion coach. This is an amazing design.

I am 80 and this is my biggest problem. I have always shot with both eyes open but with age my left eye sometimes take over. Never know when it is going to happen. With slower reaction blinking etc I never catch up with the target. Look forward to trying out your product. Thank you. Bob

I saw a great video once on the concept of switching from soft gaze to hard gaze when shooting clays. With soft gaze you look out into the distance without focusing on anything in particular. In this state the muscles that focus your eyes are relaxed. Once the target appears in your visual field you switch to hard gaze by focusing on it. In hard gaze your eye muscles contract to focus. The muscles that control the focusing mechanism of the eye can contract much more quickly than they can relax. If you try to do it the other way around and focus on tracking the target from it's point of origin you will lose a several milliseconds which can make the difference between smashing the clay or missing completely. This technique also makes shooting moving targets much more natural and reflexive and reduces analysis paralysis. I'm not certain if this helps with eye dominance but with a fast contraction of the eye muscles the usual dominant eye will probably win the race most if not all of the time. However, results talk and theory walks. From the moment I employed the technique of switching from soft gaze to hard gaze when acquiring targets my hit rate improved dramatically.

Plan to buy two as soon as they are available in the US. My question is, does it function differently than the Meadows Ind. Sight Blinder. The Sight Blinder is not a tube and does not have a fiber optic sight. It is just a simple L shaped rail.

I am right eye dominant but shoot left handed with great success, all I do is keep both eyes open but when I come to shoot I just dim my right eye a bit so my left eye takes over, have done it this way for many years, It works well for me at sporting, skeet and DTL, but I have to say this product looks very good, so I wish you the best of luck with it.

I have just installed it: - There was no wipe so I used alcohol to burn. - The rail did not hold as if the glue on the rubber was out of date. I put on rubber glue and I'll see if it holds. - The Rail bead is higher of about 2.5mm than the Berretta 694 default bead. To France, I have had to pay customs fees of 36% plus 8 euros per parcel so 44 euros.

None of this makes any sense. It sounds like sales gobbledygook to me. Everyone has a dominant eye and I don’t accept that it can change from one minute to the next. I shoot both eyes open, because looking down the barrel with my right (dominant) eye over the rib, even with both eyes open the sight picture does not change and I see the clay above the rib. The only reason to keep the other eye open is to give a broader field of view for when the clay is coming from my left hand side.
@AdamsClayPigeonGuide4 ай бұрын
It wouldn't make sense to you because, if you are as you describe, you don't need it. If you were cross dominant though, you wouldn't see down the rib as your left eye would be sending the image to your brain. You would then have no connection with the gun.
@arturcodrea4705 жыл бұрын
The "fence" aka "the rail" presented here it is what I call a copy of a similar idea of the Meadows Industries product However, . It is probably the most obvious blinder you can come up with. I know many more than me were able to come up with this idea, because I have seen a number of them for sale commercially.. The theory here is that the "off eye" cannot see the bead, and by blocking the bead from the master eye, you can let the other eye control the aiming. The theory is good, but in actual practice this is a really sorry solution. The problem with it is this. Your actual sight picture that the brain uses is a lot more than just the bead. Your brain knows that the bead is just part of what you are pointing. In fact you are pointing a receiver, barrel, and vent rib, in addition to the bead. All of this is sight picture. The fence only stops your "off eye" from seeing the bead. The "off eye" can still see the rib and barrel, which actually makes up more of the sight picture than the bead does. This fence does work somewhat if you PREMOUNT the gun and Premounting gives you plenty of time to "see the bead" and ignore all the other stuff like barrel and rib. Now with your eyes knowing full well where the bead is, you can call for the target and only the eye lined up with the barrel is seeing the bead Other condition is to use a PERFECT FLAT gun to eliminate the rib from the visual field. The beat is catching the eye . The eyes can switch visually from the target to the gun inducing several mistakes. If you shoot LOW GUN, though as many prefer, especially in the field, then you have quite a lag after mounting the gun before your brain sorts all this out and just sees the bead and perceives that as the aiming device. More than that a sporting clay and a trap shooter uses a 60/40 or even 70/30 setup so the barrel can't be eliminated from the visual field. Once the "off eye"sees the rib, the cross eye dominance phenomenon still in place so the "rail" is useless anyway.. The fence while sounding good, has never caught on well, even though it has been around for at least 50 years by various geniuses that have invented it. Ben, what you have to add?

The Meadows Is totally different? Anyway there’s plenty of room in the market for new ideas....hence my point of Dyson vs Hoover due to the original poster whining about Ben’s 👁 D rail. I’ve actually seen it and I think it’s a pretty nifty piece of kit. If you can shoot as well as Ben can then you know a thing or two about what works and what doesn’t. I’m not quite sure what your messages meant exactly however if you suffer from an eye dominance issue maybe you should give it a try? 👍
