2:00 "He hit the net. As long as it lands in the kitchen, we will re-serve it." At the Denver Open a few weeks ago, I asked a PPA person (probably a short term volunteer, but looked pretty official) about that- if we amateurs were going to do lets since we were playing in a PPA event. She said "There are no longer let serves- for anyone. If the ball lands in, you play it." Then I watched about a dozen pro matches, and of course, they replayed net serves. PPA might want to let their people know about this, and my question is still out there: If you're an amateur playing in a PPA event, do you re-serve net serves?

I believe that ruling change will apply to pros for 2024 season
@joe1071 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Came to the comments to ping this out! Thought the rules changed exactly like you said. Let serves are to be played, not reserved!
@pickleballer1729 Жыл бұрын
@@darkslidebs I actually think that rule being different for the pros is OK, since they have refs to determine whether a ball hit the net. As an amateur, before the rule change, I got into a few disagreements about whether the ball hit the net or not. It was never a big issue for us, as we were casual players. I just wanted to make sure for the tournament, since we had refs to make that call.
@walliegirl2 Жыл бұрын
Tennis is so much simpler when it comes to the rules as compared to pickleball. You can do just about anything but have a foot fault when serving.
@pickleballer1729 Жыл бұрын
@@walliegirl2 True. And that's one of those things that is both good and bad. Tennis, being simpler (but mostly because it's centuries old and very well established) seldom has to plague its players with new rules changes. On the other hand, the more complex rules of Pickleball, mainly centering around the kitchen, make for a more intricate, and imo, more interesting game. Either way, Pickleball, with its tremendous growth rate and big money just coming into the game form sources that want to see certain trends in play, is bound to have some changes in the rules for the next few years.

Bouncing around so much is counterproductive. Light on your feet is good but Ig's constant movement looks like anxious energy. Players like Ben and JW have calm focused energy on court and it's more productive for pickleball.
