What about fish oils and glucosamine? If you aim to grow you need to take care of your joints. Joints take longer to heal than your muscles so you can quickly run into problems with your joints if you don't take care of them. I'd say they are essential also for growth.

Yeah, the last comment is true, we are always in an anabolic and catabolic state. Tissue repair and normal regeneration is always going on, there is always a balance. 10 billion CFUs which is "colony forming units" is what the current studies show as beneficial for probiotics. But realize that this is to build up the natural flora that has been diminished from taking antibiotics or a disease state, not normal maintenance, and the studies indicate it should contain multiple strains. Look for lactobacillis and bifidobacterium especially should be in the mix. I'm not on board with his alkaline statement, our normal pH is about 7.4, which is slightly alkalitic or basic. Its never a good idea to push this number one way or the other by more than just a few points, like 7.6 to 7.2. It literally effects every system in your body and cell function. The supplement industry is famous for isolating something that we need a little of, and then selling us a product based on more is better, this is not good advice. Oh and we also get those BCAAs from the protein we consume, that's why we need the protein, amino acids are literally the links that form proteins, essential aminos are those we need to get from our diet. Yes I am really a healthcare professional, a pharmacist actually, and any doctor or pharmacist would give advice based on the best available evidence and be conservative. There are not always good studies to draw from for natural products and supplements, so you have to use good judgement and realize a sales pitch is always going to over state the benefits and safety, and just because its natural dose not mean its safe with no side effects. There are herbs like St Johns Wart that can significantly effect how you metabolize other medications and substances.

I have to say that you are one of the first if not the first to tell individuals to detox. I personally have done a detox just using calcium d glucarate and dim along with a complete detox formula. And all I have to say is wow, the gains began to come quick and fears. I am growing so quickly that I am getting stretch marks along my chest and biceps and a few other places. I never knew that a simple detox could do so much.

Extremely important. Causes Candida if probiotics aren't taken
@davidsirmons9 жыл бұрын
And having been through a candida overgrowth, (no I didn't have a girlfriend) I can tell anyone it is no joke. It is a nightmare, and only by doing focused research did I find what was going on and how to reclaim my health.
@SamanthaMeholick239 жыл бұрын
I am going through it right now. My homeopath told me I had the worst case of Candida she had ever seen. Almost killed me. But I am on the road back to good health. I believe Candida is the cause of almost every condition/disease including cancer. Big Pharma makes doctors use antibiotics on 99% of patients because it causes Candida which causes more health issues and makes those people spend more money on medications. That's why it's a multibillion dollar industry. Yes, Candida is a curse. I don't wish it upon anyone but at the same time now I am much more aware about what I put into my body, so a blessing in disguise I guess.
@davidsirmons9 жыл бұрын
+Samantha Meholick Hey there. I just sent an email. Can you tell me how the candida overgrowth got out of hand for you? For me, it was a high sugar diet for a good while, and when I got sick at one point had to take oral antibiotics. That's when it really hit. I tried to help my obviously failing digestion/absorption by taking Betain HCI and that literally burned my intestines super bad. Two days later, I started having multiple bouts of nearly fainting, since my body wasn't getting any nutrition at all, despite having 3k calories a day. In 6 weeks, I dropped from 195lbs to 167lbs, roughly 1lb every 1.5 days. So I know what it's like to nearly die. Thankfully my body regrew the intestinal lining at about 6 weeks, and my weight loss halted. Went through candida (and all the ensuing symptoms of it) recently, and had to cut out a few things from my diet, including N.O explode (irritating intestines, and super bad for the liver) as well as chocolate, which should NEVER be eaten if leaky gut is suspected. At 3 weeks now without N.O. Explode, my liver is getting better noticeably, and at 3 days now without Lindt Chocolate (70percent) my intestines are nearly back to normal. I'd really love to talk with you more about your experiences, and what you're doing to reclaim your health.

Quality of probiotics really matter- so buy the best you can afford; it may not necessarily translate to high numbers/ ppm it is the bio availability and potency of the product.Probiotics can range from a few dollars on up to $50-$75 for the same size however the potency will vary. Cheaper products often quote higher ppm than higher quality products, however that doesn't translate into better function in the body.

Super Mass twice a day (half scoop/half scoop), Eating 3 times a day, greens in the afternoon and dinner, and pretty much multivitamin & 1000+ of immune vitamins. Like you said, it's impossible to have enough. I have been holding off on creatine but if brain functionality is one of its pros then by all means. BCAAS I thought were in the whey so I don't take extra yet recovery is essential to faster growth so I'll incorporate those 2 essentials (creatine & BCAAS) in my diet/schedule. How is metabolic damage a fallacy? Metabolic damage usually is used to refer to people who are on extreme calorie restricted diets and can no longer lose weight on said diet because their metabolism has stalled. Metabolic damage caused by crash dieting isnt a fallacy it's scientific fact. I agree with everything else you said i just find it curious that you would call metabolic damage a fallacy. During training we get the build up of lactic acid, which in order to be removed from the muscles needs to be converted to hydrogen ions - that increases the acidity of the blood ...and high concentrations of lactate in the blood have been linked to exercise induced growth hormone response.

Hey Ben, I'm a big fan of your work but I wonder why do you put BCAAs before training. The Lucine is raising the insulin levels and when the insulin is raised we don't get an adrenalin response and cannot access the intramuscular glycogen. Hey Ben, I'm a big fan but I need an advice, I've been lifting with no breaks for 3 years now, I'm 20 y/o, I've recently started getting into the suplements stuff. In the video you say you can have creatine all the time, but from research I've done most of the information suggests that I should take breaks from creatine every 2-3 months because It's hard on the kidneys. Now, I'm still young and I lift and eat healthy for my own pleasure, I don't compete, I dont plan to, all i want is just to grow to the strongest version of myself and I dont wanna fk up my body with something I don't know enough about. I also understand you are probably sponsored by these companies and u have to say good shit about their products. So I guess my question is, creatine all year around or not? Thanks man, sorry if I've lost ur time, stay well!

No reason to take a break. Continual use offers continual performance benefits. Excessive use could strain the kidneys, but taking enough for daily maintenance shouldn't hurt.

BCAA - Ben is correct, but you also need to consider the BCAA's in the rest of your diet. An easy start is to check the supplements you use and you will find them in your protein shake at the minimum. Hence, better to take any additional BCAA's at another time of day, but only if your diet still requires them. It is possible that your diet and meal timing eliminates the requirement for any stand-alone BCAA supplementation. I think we can safely say that the requirements at Ben's size and level differ to the average gym rats. For the average guy they need to get their diet in check before looking for quick fixes.
