I remember the last time they tried this was in 87 with the live action version of masters of the universe in which it failed at the box office leading to financial collapse of the canon films group it took Mattel years to try again and this time they succeeded with Barbie in which it is on the way to the one billion dollar club I can predict high Black Friday and Christmas shopping sales for Barbie and an big win for Margot Robbie and possibly a sequel on the horizon.

The realization that Barbie wants to be a "real human" and not an "idea" was so incredibly powerful to me and I'm sure to a lot of other people as well. It highlights the beauty of imperfection and the power that comes from being "real" rather than an idealized version of ourselves. While Barbie dolls might not be popular anymore, in the age of social media so many young people feel compelled to present themselves as this "perfect idea of a life" and forget to actually live.

I love that the old lady at the bus stop said "I know!" when Barbie complemented her. I had expected her to thank her for the compliment, instead she showed that she was already confident in her own self and though I'm sure that the gesture was kindly appreciated, it amplified her instead of just consoling her. Made me think that, we often place our self values based on other peoples perception, which is of course natural, but with enough experiences in life as we age forward, we will realise that being secure and happy is all about accepting that we are enough despite whatever perceptions or judgement others have on us, and those are less important to what we thought of ourselves first. One states there is a social system in which men are "privileged" and women are "oppressed", the other states that anyone can be a man or woman at any time (eg - I'm a trans woman, if you fail to call me she/her, you would be bigoted). @@dontcensormebro3217 Big questions for a comment section, so will answer in a list form. This is non-exhaustive and brief. 1. Who are you quoting here the "goal" of patriarchy? I would say patriarchy functions just like an organism would: it tries to maintain itself. Oppressing women is incidental but essential to the main goal, which is to preserve male power. 2. Why does Amazon have more power than your local bookstore? Because once power aggregates it maintains itself and spreads. This is why our society is still patriarchal despite advances. 3. A contested, but interesting theory is that patriarchy tends to emerge with the advent of agrarian economies, where men's greater strength and mobility out of the home becomes advantageous. 4. Yes, relatively egalitarian, yet technically matriarchal hunter-gatherer societies do exist, e.g. some Indigenous cultures in Canada. 5. I have more to say about all of the above but it would get suuuper tl;dr then. 6. Patriarchy absolutely is compatible with trans people existing. Gender identities don't need to be immutable for patriarchy to function. You can find instances of trans people reflecting on the difference in respect they get after transitioning, even when they pass. That is, if you are genuinely curious and not just trying to facetiously concoct a "gotcha."

I particularly love the ending scene with Barbie at the gynecologist because it is the antithesis of toxic feminism. We’re expecting to be beat over the head with how progressive and accomplished Barbie is because feminism means women can do anything and instead we’re confronted with the very comical fact that in this moment Barbie is completely unexceptional. It harkens back to when she talks about how ordinary she feels because she’s not an astronaut, or politician, or doctor, she’s just a woman. The point is that all women are capable of being exceptional and empowered without being in the top 1% of accomplished women. We’re all important and we all have a place in this world even if we’re not mega CEOs shattering the glass ceiling. When Barbie enters the human world she is not immediately breaking gender stereotypes but instead she is just doing her best at living as a woman like the rest of us do everyday.

Alan and Midge are hilarious additions to Barbie land. Alan was marketed as Ken’s “pal” and fits in all his clothes. He and Midge were married. Midge was sold as Barbie’s best friend and was discontinued after she was pregnant. See, if Ben actually cared about anything to do with Barbie he would know this history! Also, him acting like women don’t have to deal with male egos is horrific. I was out on my own, when a man decided to buy my food. I refused and he immediately said he could tell I was “just showing how I was a strong independent woman who doesn’t need a man” so I let him buy a drink for me, not my meal. He grabbed my chest at the bar. My immediate reaction was throwing his hand away. As soon as I realized what I did, I was afraid and for good reason. This man I did not know got about 2 inches from my face and started cussing me out for removing his hand from my chest and all I could do was apologize for REMOVING HIS HAND FROM MY BODY WHEN IT WAS UNWANTED.

The sad irony is that forms of cancer that are highly survivable, like breast cancer, have more people who survive to promote awareness of that cancer, while highly deadly cancers don't leave enough people alive who have experienced it to tell people how terrible it is. @@Joe-fh7mm You continuing to reply to me and liking your own replies is improving Vaush's engagement metrics for this video. I'm sure he appreciates it. Maybe one day I'll go over and help Gentle Ben's engagement metrics. 🤔 Never been over there before. 🤷

@@Joe-fh7mm You think he made $20 million from one video about the Barbie movie? Oooooooooookay.

Transformers is also PG-13, contains numerous masturbation and sex based jokes, and is based on a toy line largely aimed at kids. Where's Ben's video whining about Transformers?

Ironically enough bays transformer franchise (I only saw like the first four movies) are way more crude than Barbie

At this point, I judge art entirely based on how mad it makes conservatives. Its a bad habit to have, but if Ben Shapiro is spending 43 minutes raging over a film, the film is probably fantastic.

I saw it yesterday, it is ❤ And yes 😂 I also got more and more excited for it after seeing how rightwingers got mad. They are truly the greatest at marketing

I truly had no interest in seeing this movie until I saw Ben burning a Barbie doll in a trash can. I saw it the next day, and I loved it so much. Hilarious and clever.

I'd love to see him review good omens knowing nothing going into it. First season: "these characters are good but it's a little anti-god so i hate it" Second season: "never mind. Burn it. Burn it all. Gay people don't exist in london, much less multiple pairs. Angels can't be gay. Men can't wear dresses and people can't accept that a man is wearing a dress. How dare they portray the story of job in such a terrible light as if it's god's fault he -- and god's a woman in this, folks -- he made a deal with satan to ruin his follower's life and kill his kids"

Ben: the promo is targeted at 8 year old girls The promo in question: Stanley Kubrick's Space Odyssey 2001 opening but with Barbie. Other promo: Kens wanting to beach each other off and Ken wanting to spent the night at Barbie's ( even though he's not sure what to do) Yeah, 8 year olds are totally the target audience. Sure, Ben. Sure.
