Hey Johnny, you’ll probably never read this comment but I think I know why Elon had his pivot. I’ve been a shareholder way longer than most Tesla stans and have been watching Elon’s progression in real time, before most people had even heard of him. The pivot came because of the pandemic but it was the final straw of 4 events I see as formative to his current world view. There was the jury trial Tesla lost regarding racism and resulted in a gigantic jury award (later overturned). Elon prides himself on being race-agnostic, and as a youth, he was much more willing to be friends with black South Africans than other whites. He was very confident Tesla was going to win the trial, and likely blames the “woke mind virus” for the unjustifiably high award. Then there was his daughter coming out as transgender. There are few details about this but I think it is safe to say Elon did not take this well. They have no relationship with each other and again Elon likely blames woke ideology for this. He keeps saying that he “is a liberal”, but he thinks the political spectrum has moved so far left that it makes him look like a conservative. Then there is his sense of betrayal by the Democratic Party,(which he voted for up until either the 2016 or 2020 election) which has never embraced him despite the fact that he made the electric car happen (along with improving large-scale electrical storage). Because Tesla is not unionized, the Dems cannot get too close to him for fear of alienating their union base. He has been repeatedly shut out or ignored by the Dems on many initiatives, whereas e.g. Mary Barra was given undue credit for innovating in the EV space. Lastly, the pandemic happened, and as someone else here had mentioned, he was angry that the government had the power to shut down his factories. He himself had a different view of the seriousness of the pandemic, and felt that he was being muzzled and censored for his view in the early months and days of the pandemic.

"Not taking well" that his daughter is transgender is already conservative ideology, making all claims he's liberal untrue. He seems to generally reason from first principles and has historically been pretty rational to build Tesla and Space X to where they are, but on societal issues he's clearly dogmatic. If he wasn't, he would know basic facts, like gender affirming care has a wildly positive effect, or that there are physiological differences in the brain of transgender people which align more with their gender than their biological sex. The only explanation I see is he's so conservative he's blinded by his values.

One correction to this above comment " the political spectrum has moved so far left that it makes him look like a conservative." Very superficial and poorly researched video unfortunately.

That one example of Musk banning links to the BBC documentary about Modi convinced me that he’s not at all concerned about free speech and was thinking more of how many Teslas can potentially be sold in India.
@RabidHobbit20 сағат бұрын
Free speech (as protected by the 1st Amend) provides individuals and companies freedom *from Congress* to control what they say or print. It's in fact the very law that allows someone like Musk to ban whatever links he wants. So Musk very much cares about 1st Amendment Free Speech, because it empowers him. That being said, I think free speech law needs an update in this ultra-rich corp and internet social media world we live in. Edit: I posted this while not quite done with the video, which shows Musk's misleading quotes about "Free Speech", so I can see where you're coming from. This whole conversation though has become confused because so many people don't understand what free speech actually is. It's hard to tell if Musk actually doesn't, or if he's just been manipulating the entire time.

I remember digging into the claim that Tesla's patents were open for any company to use and pretty quickly found the catch. I don't recall the details, but it hinged on a total non-starter of an agreement you had to sign onto if you wanted to use their proprietary charging solution. Car companies had other options that didn't involve basically giving Tesla an automatic competitive advantage and went for that instead. Almost universally. The outcome (almost nobody in the market taking such a generous offer back when Superchargers were pretty much the only name in town) should speak volumes as to the value of the deal on offer. Sure, they eventually dropped the requirement and now we have car companies declaring support for NACS charging standard over the next few years, but the idea Harris presented that Musk left the patents wide open and free for everyone is just straight-up propaganda (at the time it happened). It's an incredibly misleading narrative that ignores the massive strings attached. If the patents were genuinely open and available, it would have been a big PR win and a huge move forward for the industry - instead it was just a free PR win at the expense of setting back EV infrastructure development and making sure Tesla remained the only viable option as long as possible.

Second, the bot game is big in Turkey. Each party has its own unofficial but somehow related bots and trolls (this may be an effort of that party or it may be a reaction to Erdoğan from the party's mass, especially its youth branches). I appreciate that brevity requires generalizations, but there’s a whole lot of psychoanalysis with barely any qualification. As a lawyer I also got set off 17 different ways by the statement that his patents weren’t copyrighted and that explains their being open-source + publicly accessible. This is incoherent, it’s common knowledge that patents and copyrights are completely separate forms of IP protecting different aspects of a work - a “copyrighted” patent doesn’t mean anything. Besides, patents are always publicly accessible, which doesn’t say much to a patent-holder’s charitability. If Elon liberally licensed or otherwise gave away his companies’ patent rights that would be noteworthy, but there is no reason to spend money and resources on getting a patent if you are simply going to give it away - so I assume this didn’t happen as described. I appreciate this might seem nitpicky, but I’m not describing a complex legal technicality, and to the extent that the thesis of this video essay is based on such generalized facts that are either ambiguous or blatantly wrong, I can’t say I learned much of anything concrete except what Johnny Harris thinks of Elon Musk’s mindset. How to convey information in an essay is a personal choice, but I find such basic mistakes to be a gross journalistic oversight. Nevertheless, I appreciate the effort and hope to catch you on a train stop some other time! Toodles! :P

Thank you for the insight on patents vs. copyrights. Regarding trying to assess some of Elon Musk's conduct, I don't it's a matter of abstraction. For example...when Nancy Pelosi's husband was attacked, and then Elon shared a link to a conspiracy theory website that lied about it, and then Elon later deleted the tweet without correcting the misinformation...that is just bad behavior. A man with one of the biggest platforms in the world (artificially boosted by him) should be even more careful about spreading lies. In addition, if he allows someone onto the platform that outrageously lies (e.g. Alex Jones), he then becomes complicit in spreading the lies. I'm not saying Elon is an evil dude. Like everyone else, he's a mix of good and bad. But one of the things that bothers me about free speech absolutionists like him (other than hypocrisy) is how some view free speech as this moral ideal, and then go on to express themselves in bad ways (lies, misinformation, etc.). Regarding freedom, humanity would fare better if we remember the counsel of Viktor Frankl (paraphrased): next to the Statue of Liberty, should be built the Statue of Responsibility.

As an autistic person myself (diagnosed), I think Musk sounds like what happens when an autistic person with relatively high self focus/"other people are means" understanding (like my daughter) also is rich enough that he can get away with it, only having to care about the sanction of law, but not social rules. Most relatively severely affected autists only want to do, in fact only manage to do, what they like to do. My daughter has a kind heart, but if she wants to spend time gaming she will not be able to take other people's plans/situations/almost anything else into account. It is not hat she doesn't care, just that the urge to do what she want to do is so much stronger. I can moderate her when necessary, but only because she has to rely on me for certain things. Musk doesn't have to rely on any specific person. He can replace them. This also shows in how he treat his girlfriends. He is rich and single sided; either he gets it his way or they're out. They even have to sign a girlfriend contract. He is in a position where he can't be forced out of his autistic mode, so he only gets more locked into his way being the right way, regardless of what anyone else say. Remember; I'm an autistic person (diagnosed). I know that if we get moderated in a good way, we can learn to moderate ourselves healthily. at least to some extent. This has never happened to Musk. He doesn't moderate himself unless he sees that it would give him an advantage.

Yeah, I guess the fact that Twitter misrepresented the number of Bots that were members in their estimates wasn't of enough of an issue to give Elon at the very least a more accurate valuation number to overpay for the privileged. Or maybe, his discovery during the standard kinds of due diligence in buying a public company showed some kind of drama with the Federal Government that would have to be cleaned up or lived up to, might have made him a tad more hesitant, once the final show and tells we're going on. The Bots alone should have drastically reduced his buying price, and the only reason the stock price held when it was announced was the offer on the table..... 2:04 that’s nothing, my father used to beat me so badly I have needed surgery, he was a grappler and used to hold me in positions where it felt like my joints would break like my elbow shoulder, shoulder, wrist and hold me there for up to an hour sometimes, if I cried or struggle he would put the pressure on me, my family pretends they didn’t know what was going on, and no one helped me, not school, not even institutions made to prevent things like that, and my whole life he would make it seem like I needed discipline and I was bad and wild and I feel like I don’t have a family, I used to feel so alone, now I love to be alone, I don’t feel loneliness and everything I have been through made me, and I feel so strong, thank you dad where ever you are, life was hell, you couldn’t imagine, and wouldn’t want to, I am not mad at my father and feel bad for him honestly, and I don’t blame him, he was sick and must have been going through some heavy stuff, I remember times being beaten in and out of consciousness, in and out in and out, knowing I was dying, losing control of my body, and weirdly I couldn’t feel the pain, and knew I was at his mercy, luckily a cop walked in because someone called the cops, they didn’t care but it stopped that beating, if you have experienced anything like that you are not alone, you are made to feel bad by your abuser to control and manipulate you, it’s not okay and you need to speak up and to be heard because it’s dangerous and gets worse because your abuser will know they can get away with it and that’s a scary thought and don’t want anyone to go through what I have because most people break and get stuck never finding answers to what happened, but I understand why musk acts the way he does, I also believe I am on the spectrum, but when you go through these things you lose your humanity in scary ways

I can't stand this type of content, they never give a definitive answer, but at the same time they don't just put the facts out there for the viewer to make up their mind. Instead, you get this weird "caution" feeling about whoever the video is about, which seeds paranoia and distrust, so whenever you hear the person's name you recall those feelings. Not to mention, all the camera angles, the choice of music, pacing ... straight up from the propaganda instruction manual of 1940. Why can't journalists just be journalists anymore? And here is a little bonus: Not all, but SOME of the statistics you see are fake, they indeed come from real studies, but they are biased using a specific demographic so the end results ends up what you want it to be. I would like to believe no one would use those statistics on purpose. Take a second and read the last sentence I just typed again, did you feel it? The distrust? I didn't tell you he is lying on purpose, but I also didn't just let you make up your mind. I hope you get it now how manipulative language is and watch out for this type of content in the future.

After watching this video and spending a few hours a day for a week reading through the comments, I have to agree with the some five thousand commentersI I reviewed and have to agree with them that this is a very biased a left wing view of Elon Musk. There are a few key take aways from this that I think the masses are failing to consider. Johnny Harris started out strong with an attention grabbing click bate title for the video. He draws you in to believe he (Johnny) is going to provide an unbiased piece on Musk only to set you up for an second half hit job on Musk as the masses have also agree with. But I think it was done for reasons Johnny is unclear about. Johnny's first mistake is citing, referencing, or using anything in his video on or in association to Walter Isaacson, who is a former CNN CEO and hard core left wing activist who hates Trump, Musk and the Right WIng. In short, Johnny showed his true colors of his left wing views and position here. However, we are overlooking a few things. So let's start with Walter Isaacson. I have watch many left wing so-called neutral and unbiased documentaries in the name of "journalism". What you quickly discover is that they all "cherry-pick" people to interview and sources to back up their narratives, just as Johnny has done here. So he is not alone. With that, like thousand have stated, I would like to see the "Ground News" rating on this video and see just how far left they rate it. Now, let's jump to Johnny's "Musk's Playnook" list at 21:49:00 in the video. Johnny lists the following: 1. He's In The Weeds - Whatever the hell that is susposed to mean, and did a bad job of defining. 2.. Qustion Everything 3. Consistent Urgency 4. Motivates Talented People 5. A Total Asshole Johnny fails to take in account other successful people like Henry Ford, who you could say was very similar to Musk in the fashion that when he told his engineers to come up with a better engine design and they responded it is impossible, he said he would have it and keep trying. As history shows us, being a total asshole, pushing his people, having a consistent sense of urgency, and question everything, Henry Ford became on of the many successful businessmen of his time. Johnny could have include other like Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan, Carnegie, and countless others. Perhaps Johnny should have references a few of these like Andrew Carnegie and how worker thought he was A Total Ashole as well. Let's come forward in time to Lee Iacocca, who was famous for his line of "Lead, Follow, Or Get The Hell Out Of The Way!" What Johnny fails to point out is a very similar trait among very successful people. With that said, when you consider the mindset of the left in modern times, they have become, whinny, and entitled. So you have to be a bit of an asshole. I will give Johnny some credit her on his Deep State video and how he shows who really runs the country. With all of that said, Johnny, perhaps you should spend 15 minutes and watch this video... 11 Reasons Why Sigma Males Are The Most Dangerous Type - kzbin.info/www/bejne/boDbeX5soLSMmJY Maybe then you will understand Musk more and why he bought Twitter. Now let's talk about Twitter and overall censorship over the past four years and back to 2016. It was so, bad that 9 of my employee and I each created 50 accounts across Twitter, Redditt, Facebook, Instgram, KZbin, SnapChat, and TikTok. By far TikTok has been the worst on censorship and trying to influence our elections. With these accounts Johnny, each of us had 25 that we posted hard-core left-wing liberal post and I mean totally bashing conservative, using bullying and hate speech, pushing it to the limits. Likewise we did the exact same with 25 conservative accounts. We bashed liberals, bullies them and used hate speech. All 25 of my conservative accounts on Twitter and TikTok were ban while only 3-5 of my liberal accounts were ban on theses two platforms. Facebook and Instagram were not as bad. it was 1-3 liberal accounts and about half of my conservative accounts. The other 9 in our study had the same outcomes varying slightly. In total Johnny that is 7 platforms x 50 accounts (25 conservative / 25 liberal) = 350 per person x 10 = 3500 test accounts. We then took our findings which we listed every account we used on each site, date it was created and when it go community violation (censorship strikes) and when an account was ban. All that Johnny was sent to republican politians across the country. So while you attempt to cover up the right wing censorship that took place, we have data that proves you wrong! Lastly, you started out with mapping videos and why have you stepped into the political arena? For this one, let's, look at Jonny Taylor of Texas and his Second Thought KZbin channel. Ole JT even cherry picked a few clips of your video here to add into his video on Musk. JT pushes a radical left wing socialist agenda in his video. He also pushes anti capitalism videos and like you hates Musk. However, I call him out on each of his videos and it doesn't phase him and here is way I do it. Jonny Taylor of central Texas, is a liberal who hates capitalism. Yet, like you, I have to give him credit for using capitalism to gain success. A bit behind you, and now with 1.8 million ignorant subs who buy into his bullshit are too stupid to see him use the same tactics radical left wing liberal in Washington employ. For years, I have posted to each of J.T's videos, a challenge... if he is so for Socalism and hates Capitalism, show a video of him turning off monetization across all of his social media platforms. OR better yet, divid his month KZbin earnings equally with his subscribers. has he done that? Hell no! Is he going to ever do that? Hell no! He like you are a greedy capitlist hypocrite. So like you, we both both know the Business and Politicas genres PAY more and why I feel you have made the jump over into politics, like scammer J.T, I can list a good 30-50 left wing content creators like you and JT off the top of my head.Two thing you liberals all have in common, #1. You ALWAYS POINT TO AND BLAME REAGAN, which contradicts your video on The Deep State, and YOU ALL BASH Reagan, Trump, conservatives in general and against capitalism but sure do love capitalism and the money it affords you! This is why I stopped following you some time ago, but had to watch this video for reasearch for my next video on creators like you, J.T. and those like you all. Don't Be A Hypocite!!!!

As a Dane i have always found Twitter/X facinating because it is not really something that is too popular in Denmark. here it is basicly only famous people and trolls that use it. Then when the whole Musk takeover happend it started being covered alot in the Danish media, mostly because Danish journalists used it while the normal population did not. What has become very apparent is the difference between american politics and Danish politics. No matter who is in charge of a social media company, all will have an underlying bias that will show in the content they push, allow, and/or censor. Its so hard and I wouldn't want to be the one to be in charge. However, there is absolute truth. In the Age of Information we have so many voices that it makes it almost impossible to tell what is the truth. In times past, what was true was only what you observed or experienced. Its so easy to wish for simpler times. Yet, no season is simple. Each chapter comes with its own perks/benefits and hardships.
