moral values aren't feelings. they're not _scientific_ fact, obviously, but that doesn't mean its not an objective claim to cite morality. of course, people disagree about morality, but people also disagree about science. the only difference from that point is how the disagreement is approached "murder is wrong" objective, moral claim "murder is illegal" objective, empirical claim "i don't like murder" subjective, emotional claim further, Ben pretty rarely uses moral arguments as they usually only work in the political sphere if you're talking to someone that's already very close to where you stand on morality. not because morality can't be debated, nor because it isn't objective, but rather (chiefly) because its pretty damn time-consuming

That why my comment talked about Ben and how the reality is that Ben does the same and even more than the left considering that he plays a role in fear-mongering. Ben argues that only the left based their ideas on feelings, not facts. However, in reality, he does that as well, well in your words he uses moral arguments as much of the left does, and the fact that he famous for not letting "feelings" butt in is what people here and the person we are commenting under here are making fun of. @@nonya_bidness that is how debates work, especially in a competitive setting. Competitive debates arent gauging the objective correctness of a stance as much as theyre gauging ones ability to argue the stance in the first place.

@@VellDeLL close but not quite. a competitive debate (as in, what you'd get from a high school debate club) is about gauging the ability to produce a better argued position. so even in this context (read: not the context of shappy boy's debates) debate is still measured, in a significant way, in terms of who has a more cogent argument. the major disconnect however, is that outside of this very specific context, the the objective correctness of the argument _does_ in fact matter. if someone argues that hitler did nothing wrong, and the formulate their argument as well as one could expect given the task at hand, they've still got a bad argument. maybe it would've won gold in a debate club, but in the real world they'll be lucky if they get anyone not in the klan to even take them seriously. because in the debate-club setting, we can't (as hypothetical judges) throw out arguments solely because _we_ know better. in other words, sarah z is wrong to treat all debates as if they were a high-school competition. and frankly that's not even her worst video.
