Ben Simmons is planning to make his Nets debut later in their first round series against the Celtics. The guard hasn’t played basketball in almost a year and is dealing with a serious back issue but still plans to return to the court. This is a look at why that could derail his career again and why the Nets should not risk another disaster.

It's a serious double edged sword, cause Ben could either destroy the chemistry of this already fragile team, OR he could bring great rebounding, defense and good playmaking all of which Brooklyn needs, and save them. I seriously doubt he plays legit minutes though, I think the report that came out said he would play at most 10-15 minutes a night, so do with that what you will.

I think by game 4 (if need ) if nets are even 2-2 or anything if the teams advantage is 3-1 either way if he gets 12-16ppg 4-6rebounds few assist and be solid on D it will be a couple weeks till game 5 or 6 and 15min if doing well isn't that bad. If need be put him less or more. Would be null an void if. Nets win in 5or6 keep Ben out till 2nd round.

People don’t seem to realize the Nets’ contending window (of all the major contending teams in both conferences) will be the first to slam shut. Depends how bad the herniated disk is. If you don’t need surgery it’s not that serious. I’ve been in a car wreck and had a minor herniated disk. You just don’t want put weight on your back to make it worse, but you do need back compressions 3-5 times week to fix the issue for about a year. Nice take. But you also said “has had back problems and mental health issues”. “Has had” is the key term. He has no back issues if the epidural is covering some of the pain in the lower back (that’s coming from a guy who has L3/L4 disc protrusions and has had similar epidurals). He also has no mental issues as he has divorced from the marriage that created the mental chaos. He is no longer in the same house in Philadelphia, if you know what I mean. So unleash the beast. P.S in terms of how I sit on a chair while suffering from the same condition for 30 years, I sit lean back just like in the photo shown (even more) to reduce the vertical pressure on those last two discs when upright. In terms of offense I’m sure you have heard of a guy called Draymond Green, right? Unlike Dray, in offense Simmons has been top 5 in creating open threes for all 4 years in the NBA. If you know who Dray is, Ben’s worst season (last year) is better than that other guys best season (2016) where he played next to two two elite shooters. I dont think its a good idea seeing how he has no continuity. HOWEVER, the Nets have ZERO all-defensive players on their team. Defense is something that can always boost a team even coming off the bench. Watch the last game winning play and you will see how piss-poorly they defended that play, I do not think the Nets will beat Boston in this series on simply trying to score points. No one is a great defender on the Nets, and with Boston you need both sides.

Do off-season of Pacers! They are actually interesting now, with some flexible pieces. Trade brogdan, hield or turner? Re-sign Warren? Top 10 pick and first of 2nd round. Good cap space. Definitely curious what you think

Gotta do my Timberwolves for an off-season video! 46 win team, on the come up, but have no front court help for KAT and no rebounding. Also, DLo is gonna be an expiring contract, what do they do with him?what if Kat doesn't make all NBA and his supermax eligibility doesn't kick in?

I think it depends. If they are gonna bring him back do it for 2 reasons. 1st being they are down 3-0 cause at that point try anything. The 2nd bring him back on a home game and hope he plays well. As long as he slows Boston's offence he is doing his job. Yeah, if he can get a bucket or 2 great, but passing and defending for 4mins a quarter. Have him play the last 4mins of the first and the first 4mins of the 2nd then repeat in the 3rd and the 4th. That way in the back 8mins he is off the court.

Only way I see it worked in Boston is for him on minimal minutes basically just shading Tatum and KD and Kyrie need to play like they did against Philly, absolutely inspired to prove a point to Ben that they've got his back. If it's not a make or break game though, doesn't seem worth the risk.

Just because Windhorst is a Klutch insider does NOT mean that Klutch isn't feeding Windy bunk, this time. It is NOT up to Klutch whether Ben Simmons plays or not. That decision is left up to the Brooklyn Nets' medical team which will monitor Ben's progress as he makes his way through the "ramp up" process, beginning with one-on-one workouts. Windy's Klutch source only matters/is relevant on contract and trade-related issues. 💁🏻‍♂️🏀💰

I think Ben plays the PF role imo tbh, but yes this should be the starting 5 when Ben is fit. I really don’t think he should play in the coming playoffs though

@@nilocYT yeah agreed. Although I think Drummond did quite well against him in the first game, if Ben is going to get at least 10 minutes in a game he should be put on Tatum

You know why I don't agree a little bit every one it's putting the Celtics in 6 or 7 if brooklyn not going to past this round why not let hem play you can see what caliber player you got and if you don't like it trade it next season I think brooklyn will win the 1round with or with out ben simmons

I think its a pretty good idea... no expectations, so if its not 0:3 at that point, put Simmons in cold water a bit...he cant do more but fail, but anyway... perfect situation.... he wont have a breakdown or meltdown... he could get a bit of a feeling back, his team n management will support bc they just invested in him... let them get a bit of picture here... its perfect!

What if it is Ben who wants to face his demons in the playoffs and it isn’t the Nets forcing him to play? I like your videos but it seems like you jump to conclusions to much. He may want to face the big moments which he has failed in the past. Yes the Nets need him to be like for Draymond role but he also may be pressing to play. My philosophy is that if you are healthy enough to play then play. Ben missed enough time this season refusing to play for the Sixers. I hope for him and the Nets sake that he can bounce back. But you are right that there is a risk to coming back as if he fails it could worsen his confidence.
