The thing no one mentions either is when you do that kind of setup-pass you're SUPPOSED to box out your defender so that the guy you pass to has an easy score. Simmons both wiffs on the easy dunk, gives up the rock, and THEN removes himself from the play entirely allowing his defender to come in and hard foul. If not for that, it might have been an And-1 instead of a soft 2. This is the sort of Low IQ basketball that athleticism doesn't really make up for. Simmons made several mistakes here. Not just one.

Everybody was on Philly's ass to force Ben practice jumpers for the last 2-3 years or trade Ben to find a more suitable pg for Embid who can space the floor. They failed to do either and now they probably have to trade him when his value is at an all time low for role players and picks. Best case scenario, they pull off a Westbrook or Dam Lillard trade, highly unlikely. Ben's contract of 35M already looks terrible for a guard who is scared to shoot in today's NBA, useless in playoffs. Even Giannis is much better who at least isn't scared to shoot and works hard on his jumper, and makes a few mid-range and 3p every game and shoots 65-70% from FT.

I can't help watching this in slow-motion and seeing how Thybulle's body was starting to walk away from the paint, since he was obviously assuming it was going to be dunked or laid in . And how shocked his body looks when he sees Simmons passing it to him, you can tell by the way he is catching it it was a complete shock. Under normal circumstances I would feel bad for Simmons, mental confidence problems can be horrible as an affliction. But he makes over 100 million dollars and all he needs to do is practice shooting, no worries about anything in life or anyone in his family. He can even pay for someone to bring food to him an spoon-feed it, all to make time to practice. Obviously he hasn't, so I can't respect that lack of effort to try to improve.
