@@kristabrewer9363 I believe in my opinion it’s the word “white” (as in a pure, forgiven soul instead of a soul filled with blackness) that has been tossed around over the years. Bright and light also are thrown into the pot so it’s kind of a meshed word that’s changed into white over the years or at least what the writer was thinking

I see most of them are now singing " HOLY BRIGHT CITY" maybe as time moves on some have realized how bigoted that line sound. Now, don't go pointing fingers at the author of this beautiful song, there is a phrase call " UNCONSCIOUS BIAS".
