@@BenStoeger187I have been watching all of your videos out there and I am new to USPSA matches and your classes are spot on on what I need to be at least competitive and not suck so much. I do have a question…how much bearing does the gun have to be able at least shoot doubles competitively, i shoot with a 3.5 length pistol, do you have any pointers that may help. Thanks

I've been a fan of Ben since I bought the first dry fire training book in ~2015. He's been dropping such ridiculously useful content on IG and his podcast, and now the dude puts a whole ass class on KZbin for free. His concepts on vision alone have completely changed the game with how I interact with both a dot and iron sights. We really should be paying for this.

Yeah he really should monetize this stuff better, dont get me wrong I'm not complaining by any means, but this is the kind of thing a "content creator" would put behind a $10/mo patreon paywall.

This was very interesting. I’m going to have to try using more of a target focus to see what results I can achieve. Likewise, I tend to muscle the gun, so I’m going to try and use some of the grip techniques from the video. It seems like a great class. I need to sign up for some of this training.

I’ve only shot a couple indoor USPSA matches, let my membership expire, and admittedly not overly familiar with the rules. So I do have a question, at 1:15:21, when Joel was showing the “fast” way to shoot the drill, shouldn’t his foot or feet be on the other side of the fault line before round #5 was fired? Just wondering if that was actually correct, or if that would’ve been a procedural, or what?
@TheOtherVenkman
@TheOtherVenkman Жыл бұрын
All depends on the stage. Typically you can't shoot with a foot out. That being said, it's a movement drill.
@nchobbyman
@nchobbyman Жыл бұрын
Yeah, a movement drill being instructed, and from my admittedly limited understanding, appeared to be demonstrated wrong. “Can’t shoot with a foot out”. Yeah I get that on the first string, but take it on how the stage is intended to be shot, his foot should be on the other side of the fault line for the second string.
@BetterMarksman
@BetterMarksman 11 ай бұрын
The "fault line" you're referring to is not actually a fault line - it's simply a tool for the drill to force the shooter to move as they shoot. You're absolutely correct about fault lines. You cannot have a foot touching the ground outside the shooting boundary in competition.

This is crazy. I bought How to Shoot Like a Navy Seal from Chris Sajnog. He stressed focusing on the front site post and here is a world class shooter saying just the opposite. It looks to me like Navy Seals should learn to shoot from world class shooters and then layer their tactical training on top of that.

Aloha Ben and Joel. Mahalo for your content. MaybIplease ask what level of shooters you are teaching. Are they beginning shooters that just finished their basic safety class , intermediate shooter that shoot stagnant or advanced shooters?

I'm a younger person looking to get into the sport and I just wanted to throw this out here because it seems like there's a lot of bad information on this online. If you are someone who is shooting a lot and going to ranges a lot, how are you protecting yourself from lead exposure? Are you getting BLL tests done frequently? There are quite a few studies that show recreational shooters have elevated lead levels. I am shooting federal syntech to avoid lead from my own gun but I have to imagine that the amount of lead in the dust at these ranges is just ridiculously high from the millions of rounds fired. I have a pair of shoes dedicated for the range and wash my clothes and shower after I go but it seems impossible to avoid contamination.

I see that Ben has smaller hands which allows for a lot of surface area on the grip for his support hand to occupy. I was trying to reproduce his grip advice and my primary hand takes up almost all of the grip space on the grip. When I place my support hand on the grip there is no free grip space. My grip is just fingers on fingers with very little support hand on the gun itself.
