I fr respect ben white more for not joining the national team during the euros (im not from england so i may not have the popular opinion here lmao) due to how southgate treated trent at the euros and years prior. southgate, whether you agree or disagree, wouldnt let anyone (notably TAA) threaten walker's spot as the rb/rwb. why would white want to waste his time sitting on the bench for a position he'd never been given? that's what trent did during the summer. southgate really thought a 34 year old walker was better than trent and white. yes i am a liverpool fan, but even i can acknowledge white wouldnt have had the rough euro final performance like walker had. also, look at ian maatsen --> he stopped his holiday just to not play a minute at the euros 😭😭

If Ben White was black and refused the call ups because of certain personnel being racist or abusive, we'd all say that's fine. All the stories on the matter point to the fact that he suffered some form of abuse from the Southgate staff during his earlier call ups and that's why he doesn't want to be picked. Now it's a new regime, with new people - he wants back in. Nothing wrong with that. Go where you're celebrated, not where you're tolerated.
