Ben White should come out and tell the truth. Southgate threw him under the bus essentially with this interview, saying that the national team has no problems with him,the door is open blah blah making it look like Ben is to blame and is the only one with a problem here. Despicable from Southgate. On a side note, Southgate has the best English team in history at his disposal and he still won't win anything, as a non English person I find it hilarious 😂

Apparently Holland 'dressed him down' in front of the team when Ben was frustrated he wasnt playing. This is after being first choice for Arsenal when we were fighting for the title. Even in the lesser games he was on the bench and could probably work out, if he wasnt actually told, that he didnt have a chance without an injury to the 'regulars' which include Harry McGuire dont forget. For a character like Ben's thats probably unacceptable. He wasnt some kid who was lucky to be there and to humiliate him in front of the team is unacceptable. Bens clearly got balls, backs himself and wont put up with old-school characters like Holland. Look at the way Mikel people manages. He would NEVER have thrown Ben under a bus like that and exposed him to what will inevitably be manor from heaven for opposition fans and the press. To go back and eat Hollands shit was not on. Its a travesty from every angle and Southgate has shown how petty he is.

I heard the assistant coach made a joke about Ben's sexuality because of the way he dresses. Ben didn't find it funny, not that he is gay but if he is or isn't should never be an issue, and his disgust at Southgate not censoring the coach led White to leave the world cup camp.

Southgate knows exactly why Ben doesn’t want to be in the squad. He was chewed out by Steve Holland in front of everyone in a thoroughly unprofessional manner and deliberately embarrassed him. Why would Ben put up with? Nobody else would. Southgate just proving how unfit for the job he is.

In my opinion Ben White has the sort of personality I like for a player, in addition to be an exelent player, like most players on Arsenal, his attitude is showing he is an intelligent man with good human qualities and values like Rice and the captain Ødegaard, which are going in front showing the sort of humans on and outside the pitch the manager and the club want their players to be. In my opinion their behaviour have made them among the best role models you can find.

He is 26, not some rookie and it is likely he will have played over 50 games this season with Arsenal. He is at 39 now. Giving up his summer break to sit on the bench is not something he needs to do. And I think he just didn't have a positive experience in Qatar. Could Southgate and his staff could have helped more - very likely; But at the end of the day, if you find tournament football a difficult experience and don't think you can play to the best of your ability, or impress the manager, why put yourself through it? Particularly if the manager and staff are at best unsympathetic. The intelligent thing, and the sane thing, is not to go, if you think the same thing is likely going to happen again.

The problem obviously is NOT ENGLAND, its a matter of management his staff team. He has no issue playing for England, but does Soutgate pick him NO!! So why should he make up the numbers while Maguire plays. I agree. Watching that video of Gareth Southgate convinces me that he is not really telling the full story. He says he will leave the door open for Ben White, he might have picked him for the squad in the past or if he had him in the squad this time doesn’t mean he will play him. Why won’t Southgate say what the problem is instead of that nonsense about leaving the door open. As an Arsenal supporter I’m really glad that Ben has extended his contract with Arsenal. If Southgate doesn’t want him we definitely do and need him at this stage of games coming up. Great video, clarifies a lot.👍

Fair comment. I'm a Man Utd supporter and haven't seen the interview you're referring to. There's no doubt he is a top player and having a great season. This is why it's so frustrating he's not making himself available for selection.
