In the book of Mark 13 Christ Jesus gives what the Blasphemy of the Spirit is and when it will happen and who can commit it.

I think when you turn from Christ and refuse to go back God will harden your heart. When you no longer feel that tug you better be afraid for your life.

None of the Weslyans/Arminians seem to be able to explain how when some renounce their faith and then later genuinely return to Christ! I'd love to see this!

The primary component of "falling away" with there no longer being any hope of redemption, is when the person seeks a different path to salvation, or returns to a system of worship that negates Jesus as the Messiah. "No one gets to the Father but by me." ~Jesus Christ~ The book of Hebrews was written as a warning to those who practiced their faith through the Mosaic law. Yes, it also applies to us in this modern day. New Age and the Occult are the fastest growing belief system globally. If anyone who came out of those should deny Jesus Christ and return to it, they cannot be redeemed. "Like a dog that returns to his vomit, a fool returns to their folly." ~Proverbs~

@@billwahl5909 However, there are those who have turned away from the faith and went back to either sin or another religious systems only to later find themselves repentantly turning back into the loving arms of our precious Lord and Savior! You're talking to one one of them now! No one can come to Christ unless the Father who sent Him draws that individual(John6:44)! We would have to assume that no one could also return to Christ in faith or repentance unless they are drawn. The Holy Spirit or the third Person of the Blessed Trinity is the means by which the Father draws people to Christ in regeneration. Without which no one, including myself would ever come to Christ or return to Him. Our spirituality dead sinful selves without the Holy Spirit's drawing or quickening simply and Scripturally do not have that ability within us! So by a careful hermeneutical analysis of the above mentioned Scripture passage and those like it as well as passages like Hebrews 6:4-6 and 10:26-31, the only two possibilities that exist are that I was either not yet truly saved or that I never truly apostatised from the faith.

What if you committed apostasy in the past, but got out of it, and repented?

Personally I feel like that is what the story of the prodigal son is for. I don't know if I necessarily completely agree with Ben in this video. I do believe people can walk away from their faith in Jesus, but I also believe that there could still be hope for that person too. Maybe I misunderstood what he was saying.

How come you think what you did was apostasy it could have been just backsliding? Like to discuss that with you if interested

Then you didn't commit genuine apostasy. Genuine apostasy is the denial of the work of the Holy Spirit. It's not something you do accidentally or half-heartedly.

@@rachelg.cuesta1436 Hebrews 6 is very clear. If you truly committed apostasy (denied the work of the Holy Spirit), you wouldn't be worried. As a matter of fact, you wouldn't care because the conviction of the Holy Spirit would be gone from your life. The mere fact that you are concerned shows that you haven't committed apostasy. Just repent and surrender yourself to Jesus. Maybe he was just using this to get your attention. Be encouraged!

The no road back position has very lofty prerequisites. Tasted of the powers of the world to come? Have you done that? What did they taste like? I suggest he is saying, if you reach that point where you see the victory in Christ and have lost your life for the Gospel then it is impossible to fall away. The body of death we still seem to manifest will eventually be separated from us by a dark cloud, and though it seems very real, it is a dead man walking.

Just my thoughts….. Jesus was dealing with the rejection of his Messiahship by the Jewish leadership, sealing the fate of the nation in 70 AD. After this rejection of his Kingship there was no coming back for the nation. It was a Jewish thing, we can of course reject Christ personally but that’s not what the text is about

I do believe people can walk away from their faith in Jesus, but I also believe that there could still be hope for that person too. That would mean that there's no hope for my uncle who used to be a Christian and became an agnostic. Am I misinterpreting this video correctly or no?

Just from my research there is backsliding into sin.. and then there is apostasy which is deliberate early rejecting faith in the gospel of Christ and going on with your sinful Life.. like to discuss this with you if interested

“And Jesus said, I tell you the truth, whoever commits sin is a slave to sin, but the slave shall not abide in the house of God forever… But he that the son sets free is completely set free.” John 8:34-36 It is the act of first choosing to commit a sin that enslaves a man or woman, causing addictions and prevents people the ability to overcome many sinful acts. Everyone at some point in their lives does choose to do what they know is wrong and does become a slave to some sins; But if you are set free by Jesus Christ, the slavery of sin is broken and freewill is restored. “By what a man is overcome, the same is he also enslaved.” 2 Peter 2: But some might say, we are all sinners, everyone sins and we always will be sinners while we live in this world. Though this may be true, as we all do make errors in judgment and act without thinking and we certainly all make mistakes, it must be brought to light that the bible makes a difference between the types of sins, some being sins that are forgivable, and some which are not forgivable. “Whoever takes action against what is taught by the son of man, it can be forgiven of him; But whoever blasphemes the holy spirit can never be forgiven, not in this life or the next.” Matthew 12:32 “If anyone becomes aware of a brother having committed a sin not unto death, they shall ask God for forgiveness and God will give life unto those that commit a sin not unto death. There is a sin that is unto death, for such, I do not say that you should pray for it.” 1 John 5:16 Clearly, in these scriptures there is a distinction made between two types of sin, one being less severe of a transgression against God and the other a mortal sin. In our modern bibles it can be very difficult to find understanding and clarity on the subject, but at the time of the writings of these above quotes it was commonly understood what was meant by the differences between sins, as it is written in the old testament scriptures and was expressed in the Greek language in which the scriptures were written. All we need to do is look there for understanding. “When one commits a sin in ignorance before the Lord, atonement shall be made and it shall be forgiven unto him. You shall have one law for all that sin ignorantly for both those that are born among the children of Israel and also for the foreigner (gentile). But the one that sins defiantly (presumptuously), whether native born or a foreigner (gentile), he blasphemes the Lord and he must be cut off (H-3772 -killed), because he has despised the Lord’s instructions and broken his commandments, his sin shall remain upon him.” Numbers 15:28-31 This verse very clearly defines blasphemy of the holy spirit (God), what a sin unto death is and also what sin not unto death is. When we have this in mind, we can then start to understand many other scriptures. “Because if we willfully commit sin, after we have come to understand the true way, there is no longer a sacrifice remaining for such a defiance against God; But there is a certainty of terrifying judgment and the fiery anger of God that shall consume all that defy him. Anyone who disregarded the law of Moses was put to death without pity at the testimony of two or three witnesses; How much harsher of a punishment is then due, if someone pushes the son of God down under their feet and chooses to defile the blood of Christ and the covenant by which they had been cleansed, and also chooses to defy the spirit that has brought unto them the assistance of God?” Hebrews 10:26-29 “Even though I had at one time been a blasphemer and persecuted the people of Christ, I received the grace of God abundantly and I received forgiveness, because what I did, I did in ignorance.” 1 Timothy 1:13 “Because the wrath of God is revealed upon all ungodliness and unrighteousness of every man that knows what is right, yet chooses to do that which is unrighteous.” Romans 1:18 taken from THE ETERNAL BOOK OF TRUTH THE NEW TESTAMENT SCRIPTURES

sooo I've been worried about that because when I read that the first time back on 2012 I started getting thoughts about that in my head what the Jews said like I would only think that all time in my head months passed that still in my head repeating then I would run to my mom and tell her mom I said the hs is the D (ya know the word ?) and God says that the Jews said he had a devil and that's the blasphemy against Holy Ghost and I think just by running to my mom confessing that to her because I was worrying about my thoughts I was really in fear I use to tell her that a lot of times and I think just by repeating those words to my mom I think I commited the unforgivable sin

So is apostasy the unforgivable sin? And I've heard that the sin unto death was a physical death. Man, all this is confusing.

We, the Church, are commanded to contend earnestly for the faith that was once delivered unto the saints. The faith that was once delivered unto the saints can be found! It is The Doctrine Of Christ that Paul uses to bring Us (THE CHURCH), unto the unity of the faith! The most beautiful illustration of Christ building His Church in whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named! I do not know of even One false teacher that would deny that Jesus has come in the flesh! John is speaking of Jesus abiding In US (THE CHURCH). That He, Jesus shall abide In US! 1John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is IN YOU, than he that is in the world! Very misinterpreted scripture here by most. Just as Paul uses the Doctrine Of Christ, to bring Us (THE CHURCH), unto the unity of the faith. And labors throughout all of his epistles for The Doctrine Of Christ! The is only One Doctrine that Paul uses to bring Us (THE CHURCH), unto the unity of the faith, and that is The Doctrine Of Christ! John as well, completely understood The Doctrine Of Christ! 2 John 9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abide not in The Doctrine Of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in The Doctrine Of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

somehow youtube recommended this to me. however that video is full of issues. i don't feel like the author has a solid revelation on this, and merely tries to explain it logically by reading available texts. this is not so easy. not going into details here, but you can safely discard most of this info. do your own research
