I pend $20,000 on a handbag instead of $200 on a Spend $20,000 on a handbag instead of $200 on a bag. Spending $20,000 on a handbag is worse than spending $200 on a replica *gtdupe* bag. Then invest the remaining $19,800. The obvious choice, since a $20,000 bag is unlikely to appreciate in value

I have a personal gripe with "luxury" designer leather goods. I know it's for brand recognition, but their quality has just become so poor over the years. I just bought my Wife a pink Lambskin Classic, burgundy hobo, and 22 small. That was $20k plus on bags for maybe $150-$300 in materials. The quality difference is night and day compared to the items I can commission from small leather craftsmen. The worst part is that I know the quality has dropped recently. My mom gave my wife a few of her Chanel bags from the 1970s and 80s last year, and the new bags look like cheap knockoffs by comparison. Granted, I do love the quality that Goyard has for its items, but if it wasn't for my wife, I would never give YSL, Chanel, Prada, LV, or Dior my money for leather goods. I can't speak to the clothing side of those houses, but I'm also not a label guy for clothing. The only significant spend I do with those brands outside of bags for my wife is for their fragrances.
