So this ended up a bit longer than I’d like but I feel like it’s important. Sandman is at least implied to mentally be an adult. He’s clearly physically one (physically not based on the years he’s lived but rather that he has the physical characteristics of an adult. In fact it’s clear to see he’s a hunched over little old man) Meanwhile Sophie is both mentally and physically a child. And it’s weird for someone who’s at least mentally an adult to be into someone who’s mentally and/or physically a kid. Maybe he isn’t familiar with pedophilia and age of consent, as there doesn’t seem to be any reason he’d need to know about that in the fairy world and it’s not like it’s something he’d learn or need to for his job. But that doesn’t mean we can’t accept that it’s weird. And as for Richard making a comment about Sophie’s chest, I don’t think he’s got an excuse for that. He seems to be well aware she’s a minor. But at the end of the day it’s the dev who put all this in, so he’s the one who’s weird for it.

in bad end 4 when boogie says "looks like you did things out of order, detective. but still, not bad." it sounds like he's talking straight to the player. like, imagine you're playing this game for the first time, going in blind, and you happen to miss a few of the secret scenes just on accident. and then the boogie basically tells you "oops, so close! but you're still missing something! :^)" like that would be so frustrating but at the same time it hints to the player that they need to find more information in order to get the true ending? which is pretty clever

I love how the characters match their "monster" and their setting perfectly. David was a man who thought he was worth nothing and had nothing to lose, and the crooked man worked hard to show david that there he has so much to lose and when the time finally came, David gets shown that people care, and he decides to live his life to the fullest. Sophie was a girl with insomnia who was bullied with so many repressed desires (as shown by Lullaby), so the Sandman's world was the perfect area for her to gain some confidence while still being wrapped in a somewhat safe atmosphere. And now there's Keith. A dark castle and a mystery for a stone-faced detective. He protects as many as he can. I havent finished the video and its been a while since I watched the other videos, so sorry if I got anything wrong.

@@ajiprnk4821 Brendon never died at all. They explained this outright in the true ending. He sliced off the head of a doll done up to _look_ like him in the dim lighting. The person who shot Keith in ending one appears to be Keith himself - "the Boogie in your head" - which implies that Keith takes his own life while hallucinating. Ending 2 is... uh... really unclear, but from the looks of it, Keith returns to the safe room, finds everyone gone (killed?), and then hallucinates being at home with his son as he bleeds out - like Helena's "happy dream" from ending 4.

I plan on making my own Strange Men fan games and I thought of how it cod be both so like you know to take this into account later but you don't pick it up right away. My solution is a sorta notes mechanic, so if you interact with something you can't use or do anything with but will later on, something in a menu will be added so it's like. "Door with red knob is cracked" so that way if your lost you could use the notes to act as a sort of guideline.

One the things i love the most about this game most people don’t notice the first time they watch/play the game me included, is the fact that the real boogie man enters the fray and messes with keith multiple times and even attacks sophie out of bitterness towards her, even leading towards keith’s demise in one of the bad endings. What makes it fun is that if you realize it and study certain scenes as well as the true ending you can go back and know which one is going after him at different points and i really enjoy that aspect of the game.

Keith’s talk with Helena in the true ending grave scene really got to me. He was speaking as if he was talking about my life. Sure I’m definitely happy and can express myself, his personality matches mine. Hiding your true emotions is something I have been doing for years! Anyways, I’m fine currently, but that speech sort of reached me on a personal level that most things can’t.

One thing I really like about this series is that every installment is a very distinct subgenre of horror. Crooked Man is the epitome of dark, self reflective horror akin to Silent Hill. Even "David Hoover" is like, the most SH name I've ever heard. Sandman has a few of those dark fairytale vibes, closer to something like Pan's Labyrinth with a bit of Yume Nikki mixed in. Boogieman is straight up something like the first season of True Detective, plus maybe a few original Alone in The Dark vibes with the mansion and an investigator. Hanged Man... Idfk what it was going for, but it was a strong vibe.

Good video. Very well made, to the point I didn't realize it was almost 2 hours long until I read a comment saying it was. I'll be honest, I cackled when they used the word rump. (Spoilers for bonus Scene) I fucking called Sandman not letting Keith sleep after making fun of Sophie. Like, Sandman saved her ass and she was telling him she appreciated his help in protecting her.

I’d like to bring up that the incident at the beginning of the game that results in Keith being in hot water with the press, was because he shot and killed a murder suspect in front of a civilian without any form of confrontation. When the news article describes the civilian as “innocent”, Dick responds that the civilian was actually a prostitute, which… was somehow supposed to justify the detective shooting and killing someone in front of her?

I love love love how david makes comments about his neck. In the Sandman he was complaining that his neck had a crook in it because he slept on shirlys couch, and right here when he was helping keith climb he said “My necks gonna break!” And I just think its a fun callback

I was OBSESSED with this game when it first came out, I still love it now! But I simped SO hard for Brendon / the Boogie Man. I tried recreating the map on Minecraft, and wrote days worth of roleplays with my closest friends. Ah, gotta love Neurodivergent obsessions!

the voice acting really ruins this game for me. it's not even that they sound bad, it just completely takes away from the atmosphere somehow. i guess it's handy if you're watching a playthrough though?? i think the only character out of the entire cast that really benefitted from having a voice was the boogie man, his voice work was really effective and actually enhanced every scene he was in

For me, the one thing that this game had to do since ManlyBadassHero is in the cast was making him the va for Boogie Man. Like seriously, his villain/antagonist impression are really, really good and it would be a perfect pair for the Boogie (the original VA is very good too but this is only my opinion). Nonetheless, great video and great game overall, makes me wanna play the Strange Man series.

I just realized the musicbox in the true ending is from Zero escape :0 Edit: this game broke me. David died during my first playthrough and i cried for a solid 20 Minutes. This series is so incredibly good
