Lovely stuff Ben - thanks for giving a nod to my cockpit audio video. The headset looks good but I have to say I don’t regret spending the grand on my Bose A20s. For me it’s not just about protecting our hearing (especially in our line of work) but also the fact that a noisy environment is very tiring which is not helpful when you’re flying - which is already tiring anyway. Oh, and I bet you a bacon sandwich that once you pass you’ll listen to tunes while flying on your own and LOVE IT! I’ve had Spotify on a couple of times when it’s been quiet and it’s great fun. I hope you manage to fly soon.

Rory On Air - pleasure. I flew yesterday and adjusted the mic volume on the aircraft radio and my levels are spot on now!! Phew. Ha to be honest I love the Bose I can only imagine how nice they are. One day, maybe....and use the Seht as a plush passenger set! The anr is half decent, and maybe ill come round to the idea of music haha!! I have the option with a cable, not any of this fancy Bluetooth! Though I WILL take you on with that bet.....anything for a bacon sandwich Rory! Looking forward to your next vid 👍 and noticed your BBC podcasts out this week 👍👍

Ben Atkinson ah glad you managed to fly yesterday. The weather up here has gone down hill today. I must buy a passenger headset to I might get a pair of yours actually. Yeah video out today and the podcast stuff is really exciting too. 👍

Ben, Brilliant video, might have a look at this headset. Tell us how you get on with it. My instructor recommended that I watch your videos.. and I wasn’t disappointed. Keep up the good work. 👍 safe ✈️

Great video Ben. Ended up getting a pair of DC H10-13.4 myself and I like them ok. No flying for a month is a bummer too.

Cheers JP. Unlucky you’ve not been up. The DC’s are very decent by all accounts!

Interesting you chose SEHT. I just wish they would be more consistent in their product descriptions, and show headset weight and noise reduction figures for all models to enable easier comparison.

Dave Green - hey Dave thanks for your comment! I agree. The info on the site isn’t necessarily the best. But so far so good as far as I’m concerned. The ANR has a good effect, I plan to review them properly with my instructor who has a tonne more experience.

Hey Ben, loving the training Vlogs/flying related content! I'm based in Swindon and looking to start training in the next month or so. Would be great to hear your points of view on selecting Kemble vs other flight schools in the area. Keep up the great work :)

Awesome comment josh thanks ! I actually plan on doing a video on things to look for when shopping for a flying school. Subscribe and look out for that. I’m not getting paid to say so but after shopping around I picked Kemble flying club for several reasons. I even have a spreadsheet!!! One reason often overlooked, you get on with the instructor! You’ll spend a lot of time sitting cm’s away from them. Feel free to follow benlearningtofly on Instagram and I can answer any questions. And thanks for watching the videos!!

Josh B - meant to say... main thing is you feel comfortable and to try places out. Have a trial flight before commuting anything. Happy to meet you at Kemble and show you around.

Just wondering if your purchased a plane yet or are planning too. My Skyranger is fitted with a Lynx interface so I use micro-avionics headsets. I don’t have the GA style type. I think it’s a big expense to install it all as I’ve for a handheld Icom radio.

K R - thanks for watching and commenting. I haven’t purchased a plane yet - and to be honest it’s not something I’m planning on doing just yet. Kemble flying club have a shared ownership scheme that allows me to fly all aircraft and pay an annual fee which will do me for a while but obviously the aim is to own one - one day! Interesting about the lynx interface stuff. Do you like t?

Ben Atkinson Excellent, that scheme sounds perfect. It’s ok, no noise cancelling or anything fancy, I’m used to using it from flying a flex wing.

K R - nice! I must feature some flexwing stuff sometime!

Hi Ben, great video, I'm loving following along with the series! I have just received my H1n after yours and Rory's recommendation (along with all the other items in Rory's list) and I was just wondering if you could help a newbie with how to set the H1n up if possible please? I particularly like the quality of your videos, and I'd like to try and replicate that as much as possible... My few questions are as follows, what quality do you record in, WAV or mp3? I'm thinking 44.1k 16bit WAV but not sure if that's overkill, and just go with mp3? Do you have LO CUT and or Limiter turned on? Finally, do you have auto level turned on or do you just set the level manually at the start of the flight? Thanks! James

Hey James - cheers for the comment! Wav will always be the highest quality - so 44.1k 16bit is the industry standard for recording the highest quality audio (in radio at least). MP3 128 is certainly good enough if you're struggling for memory card space, but be sure to get the right setting. I personally would just buy a 16gb memory card (8 would be ok too) and delete Wav files when its getting full. I don't have either Lo Cut or Limiter on and I set the zoom input level so the meter bars are peaking at about -12db. Each setup from different planes will be different but you shouldn't be far off working with these guidelines I think! Thanks again for watching, Ben

@@BenAtkinsonVideos Awesome! Thanks Ben. I've actually got a 32gb card in it as I had a spare lying around the house, so as space is not an issue I'll go with 44.1k 16bit. Thanks for the tip on setting the meter bars to peak at about -12db. Sound and video recording is new to me so I was visioning a fair bit of trial and error - I suspect your tips have saved me a huge amount of teething pain! Looking forward to testing the setup. First lesson on Saturday (weather dependent), I say first lesson but I'm actually picking my lessons up again after around a 9 year break... Unfortunately money doesn't grow on trees! Thanks again Ben, James

James McDonough - awesome! Let me know how you get on 👍 and feel free to ask any further questions. Tip - try and grab 5 mins in the plane before you set off testing your audio, cameras generally just work...audio in my case at least has been the fiddly bit!
