Well done. I have the 535-4 and the 537GY-03 should arrive this week. Your overview is well stated in comparison of these models. Thanks.👊

I have both of these as well. I agree, they are both great. I have XL hands and the bailout is a little better for me, but both work well.

As a first benchmade, which would be better the m4 bailout or the m4 bugout from smkw?
@CNYKnifeNerd3 жыл бұрын
They're both so similar. Do you want a longer knife with a tanto or a shorter knife with a drop point? That's what it comes down to. Benchmade does M4 really well, and at .09" stock they're both super slicey. I very much prefer the Bailout because I love the thin tanto, but there's nothing wrong with the bugout at all. Im not sure id recommend either as a very first Benchmade, though. I'd suggest a G10 Griptilian unless you wanna go all out and get an Anthem. Literally the only bad thing about the Anthem is that it will ruin all the "normal" omega spring axis locks. EDIT: If you happen to have a Bass Pro Shop near you, they stock a decent selection of Benchmades. Trying each one in hand will make it a simple decision.

@@CNYKnifeNerd whatre the benefits of a tanto compared to a drop point? I'm currently carrying a boker Kalashnikov with clip point lol

@@kylerscorner9094 opening boxes with a tanto is easier but other than that a drop point is alot better for every day use I’d say.

Tango blades were designed originally for defensive use. As a edc i have a dozen Benchmades, I carry (currently) 535-3 Bug Out. Jmo.

I love my bugout bought 2 535-bk4 but Benchmade has no idea how to sharpen a knife. my bug out was the dullest knife I have ever bought and the most expensive. Benchmade should be ashamed of themselves for the edge they put on their blades
@AGC828 Жыл бұрын
They priced nearly the same. One has a more corrosion resistent steel and a blade shape that is easier to sharpen...which MATTERS. The "pseudo-tano" blade on the Bailout will be a pain to sharpen for most of us...giving most an inconsistent edge heel to tip...few people are qualfied whetstone sharpening people....imagine using rods with ta tanto :)) Also, these are desgined for "carry". Why they're both so thin. But what separates them in "carry feel" is the length. Most reviewers just talk about how the knvies feel slipped in to a jeans pocket while standing....what about when you crouch down? Jump? Run?? :) MATTERS IMHO...I think the Bugout -4 is the better choice ...or even the -3 if you have to have CF/S90V...vs Alu/K390 :)

If you are going to be sharpening any of these high end steels, you really should be using good diamond abrasives. And a decent fixed angle sharpener (I like the KME and the hapstone the best so far) makes the whole process idiot proof. They help to equalize the issue of sharpening.

A tattoo blade as a outdoor knife. I'd have to assume you don't go outdoors much. Go on you tube, find one single bushcrafter that uses a tanto style blade. I couldn't find one. Theres a reason for that. Also never met a single butcher that uses a Tanto. Wood craft or food prep goes to the drop point. Tanto does look cool though.....
@bladedge272 жыл бұрын
I don't remember saying this is a great outdoor knife 🤔 I said going camping throw in 5th pocket, having the choice of the 2 in MY opinion, I would lean toward the tanto, but liked both. Lived in the mountains most my life. And this is all in my opinion, the butcher at Safeway using a cleaver has no swing in what I think

@@charlessalmond7076 Appreciate that, we agree to disagree, just curious, have you carried a tanto knife around for an extended period? Like a week or 2? Honestly, at first I didn't really care for them, but more and more I've been finding tantos to be beneficial, and succeed at most tasks, bushcraft type work, probably not so much, EDC work 👍🏻 Thank you for the friendly debate!

@@bladedge27 always appreciate civil conversation as well sir. I used to carry a tanto style blade in the 90's doing recovery work. I do still like the style for specific task, just prefer drop point or clip point for most things. Its nice to not be attacked for a differing opinion. Keep up the good work sir.

You are not breaking the 535bk-4 in your hands and full of 💩. I’ve seen people literally beat on them with massive rocks like a sledge hammer and chisel splitting wood and they take it in stride with zero issue. You also will not break that aluminum scaled bailout either. Stop spreading hate and false information. Wether you think the marketing and hype train live up to what you actually get for the money, both knives are phenomenal products. Nothing cold steel makes or ever has made has sold the same amount of units or carried by more people than benchmade has and that’s a fact not opinion. Check sales as the Bugout is the number 1 selling edc knife year after year if not ever. I like other companies as well but there is no denying how formidable these knives really are. Plus their warranty program is amongst the best in the business. (Not a fan of the inclusive angle they use or how they are rounded but nothing a good home sharpening can’t remedy)
