Did a Benchmade Bugout just survive longer than the Operator 7? 😂 Hard to believe Bowel Movement I mean BM, woops I mean Benchmade had time to make this blade between chopping up guns and alienating half their audience... But still hard to believe it survived that long. I didn't have to watch the video to know that handle was fucked from the beginning. But of course I watched the video and it was excellent as always brother! 😁🤘🔥

Great to see another popular expensive knife is being destroyed 😆 Especially, the part that the handle is broken in half with a nice cracking sound in the first side-way bending motion. Thank you for doing all the hard work for us. It looks like you're jumping into the water often because it's too hot there! Keep up the great work and be safe!!

This test makes the cold steel range boss look tough! I like carrying the range boss for it being thin, not too heavy, and long blade for edc. Saw your test on it - I have it in 4116, not the best steel but it’s stayed sharp as long as my other knives in vg-10 that have weaker back locks and handles. Thanks for your fun tests / videos!!! Keep it up!

The Benchmade Griptillian would be similar to this one, but it actually holds steel liners under nylon handles. Since most people use their knives for basic tasks like boxes and food, the bugout is perfectly adequate for an edc and honestly surprised me on how long it lasted in this test. People who don't like it for its intended purpose either have different knife needs (like bushcraft, NOT an lightweight edc) or, lets be honest here, are so absorbed with the whole idea of the linerless knife being "too weak" for edc they forget that they barely do anything worse to the one they have in their pocket. Specifically the guy that settles for nothing less than a Cold Steel but doesn't even wanna cut zip ties with it 😂

One is an EDC knife meant to be as light as possible, the other one is a survival knife meant to be as tough as possible… And wow, the price went up like crazy, got one a few years ago for 90 euros. For sure not worth 160 euros. If you want Ed a blade that do both, then the BM Freek is much better suited.

@@awesomereviews1561 Well I only purchased the BM Bugout when my SOG Tomcat III went mysteriously missing. I would have bought another but they don't seem to be available anymore and the price point is just too high for me nowadays anyway. @kennethkrieb3018
@kennethkrieb3018 10 ай бұрын
I agree with you 100%. My only concern is- I’ve had 2 friends snap the handle scales on their bugouts. One was cutting cardboard boxes up at his job and got the blade slightly torqued in the cardboard and snapped the handle scales right off the knife. Not exactly ‘hard duty’ use. The other friend had his knife closed in his back pocket and sat down on the knife, immediately snapping both handle scales. He said he’s carried his pocket knife in his back pocket for decades and the bugout has been the only one to break when he sat down. For the addition of possibly an ounce or 2, stainless steel liners could have been added under the plastic scales and that would DRAMATICALLY increase the strength of this knife without adding much to the weight. I fully understand the need for a lightweight EDC knife, but I think Benchmade took the idea of being lightweight just a little too far. All the well, I hope you get decades of good service out of your bugout. It’s just not for me, that’s all.

S30V is very good steel for its wear resistance, meaning you can use it on robustly cutting. But you should be aware that it performs not so good on toughness, not good as a survival knife. Personally I will take this knife as a life-time utility knife only.

Got to try the tougher bugout models: Carbon fiber & S90V Aluminum & M390 G10 & M4 (from their custom shop) ... theoretically, they should perform on a different level (though their prices are also on a different level ...)

The handle of these will take more abuse, but the blades will get damaged faster with these steels. These are high edge retention steels, they are only made for cutting, which is for shure also the idea behind the whole knife.The m4 could perform better, it's a pretty though steel, but not know much about their heattreatment for it.
