Benchmade Infidel OTF - Overview and Review

I just wanted to clarify for people concerning the "safety mechanism" of this or any otf knife, there is no actual "safety mechanism" that prevents an otf from deploying when there is an obstruction in the way nor does it "derail". The blade is shot out and retracted in with spring tension and there simply isn't enough momentum in the blade to shoot out to the locked out position if there is an obstruction blocking it, so it is simply left floating between the locked out and locked in position.

Just inherited the same model from my grandfather! It jams sometimes on the retraction, may need to oil it a bit, but I’ve used it several times today and absolutely LOVED it! Can’t stop flicking it

To much oil can cause problems too. You can also send it back to bm and they will fix you up. Sweet knife

I've carried one for 2 years and it's functioned flawlessly. I have to oil it maybe once a month and hit it with the air compresser every couple weeks.

Just received the Blue version about a week ago. Fantastic design, superb build quality and finish! With that said, initial blade movement was zero in the direction of the blade flats, with a slight side-to-side rock. After a few days I suddenly realized the blade was wobbling noticeably! Today I pulled the top cover and took a look inside and discovered the blade locking block that fits through the blade shank and is held secure by a small machine screw was loose! The screw had backed about half-way out allowing the blade to wiggle around independently of the locking block! Sure enough, after tightening the screw down, all blade movement in the direction of the blade flats was gone, only the small side-to-side rock remained, but very close to zero play. That screw was not lock-tite'd in place and even though I snugged it up well, I suspect it will loosen again. I doubt the screw can come all the way out, but even if it can, the locking block extends through the blade shank so there is no risk of the blade coming free of the knife.

I know this is an old video but, I'm going back and enjoying all the old content. Anyways, you probably already know this but, the GovX Infidel exclusive is black on black s30v. I had the bladehq exclusive and stupidity made me sell it. I wasn't using it and I didn't appreciate it for what it was. Now it's gone and been awhile, I miss it so much and would be carrying it a lot. Using it any way possible. I know it isn't much of a utility blade but, it can be done. But I was going to buy the govx variant and try to trade for my old one back. I love green is why.

Just received mine , so happy to add it to my extensive BM collection , procede to open the box , and surprise no molle sheath , now I am half happy 😑😕knife is awesome no doubt about that . Update : I was told by one of my colleagues that this specific model does not includes the molle sheath 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I have the bronze brown handle black blade (S30V) special edition as an EDC. Love it. Made for jeans. Carry it even when carrying a more practical workhorse knife too.

I picked up one about a month ago. I love it. It fires harder than any other infidel I've ever handled. It has very little blade play too. I'm very happy with it.

This right here! He was saying he's never held an OTF that didnt wobble, and I'm here whipping my Infidel back and forth and it's sold as a rock. Even holding near the tip and moving, and I'd say it's well under a mm of travel in either direction. Love mine!

When the blade is out is it tight or loose? I bought an OTF a few years ago and it's fast but when the blade is out it Jiggles a little not much but just enough to annoy me.

I have the regular black version infidel but I love it so much. Have thought about selling it before but I just can’t bring myself to do it even though I’d like to try out a few microtech otf knives, but it was a gift and I’d feel like a pos if I got rid of it lol.

LOVE IT! Awesome review as always my friend! This edition is a softer, more classic OD Green color vs. the new Blade HQ exclusive variant (brighter green color). At least that's what I understand from some other folks!

I'm glad I can carry one where I live & I'm waiting for my BHQ S30V Exclusive as I type this! It has been a Grail Knife (production wise) for quite a while! Also this color scheme is way cooler than the 10th Anniversary Silver/Black version.

The new SOG Pentagon has better blade steel and almost zero blade play at a lower price. Only the Hawk Deadlock can beat the lockup of the Pentagon.

Can’t legally purchase or carry one in Minnesota either. So I just had my brother in Wisconsin buy it and he brought it to me on thanksgiving. I carry it all the time. It’s only a misdemeanor if you get caught. The real tragedy is the cop will take it home for themselves. So best not to get caught with it.

I live in a state where both open and concealed carrying OTF's is legal. I live on a farm and I am looking for a good EDC do you recommend? I am looking for a knife I can draw quickly and use with ease.

If you don't have it, (like me), your hands burn for it! Then I'm sure once you've had it for a bit, it gets stowed away in the sock drawer! I have the Phaeton, great knife, but lives in a drawer, ashamed to say! My Auto Stryker gets more pocket time! But the Infidel will remain on my list!

If you know where to look on reddit, from time to time you can score one for $250 like I did. Mine has no wobble at all though. I was shaking it like yours and I can hear the one in the vid, mine is solid like rock. Love this knife.

But I love this model and every time I see one at a gun shop I have to spin the little kiosk and stare a little bit at all of the options that they will sell me in a ca gun shop, when blade HQ, and many other retailers won’t send me an otf- Amazon will send it with a dual edged dagger, and otf with dual action - but we sure as hell can not carry those anywhere. It’s the same as having a loaded gun on us - we can’t even transport them unless we’re reviving them in the mail lol.

Microtech ultratech, Microtech Dirac Delta, Microtech Combat Troodon, Guardian Tactical Recon 35, Guardian Tactical Recon 40, Axial Shift, Heretic Manticore E, Heretic Colossus, EMP EDC Pulse, Kershae Livewire, and the Maxace Neptune. All have better action, better lock up, better reliability, better materials, and cost less. The Infidel is one of the worst on the market at that price.
