Benchmade Morpho 51 Thoughts

A closer look at this balisong and a bit of a Benchmade rant at the end.

The new latch is so that it Locks open for cutting, for EDC I think that this is better. The Spring would be beter for Fliping tho.

The latch is their "next generation" spring latch, it springs out when the handles are closed, and open it locks the latch in position so you dont accidently unlatch it while in use, its very inovative imo, the stop pins are called zen pins ;) you were right about the circles it is called jeweling on the ti liners, and the machine marks is a brushed finish on the blade (I like it), personally the 51 is my go-to flipper and my favorite knife lol, good rant btw the 62 is a bit of a cop out =)

They stopped using the latch with a physical spring for multiple reasons many because it pops out when the knife locks open make it almost a safety risk

I heard benchmade still makes the 42 when they have spare parts. I think they discontinued it to increase the secondary price.

I think if I ever got a 51 or a 32 I would have to get the titanium anodized a bright red color just because i think that would look a lot cooler.

They don't use the old spring latch for safety purposes. When you lock the 42 open, a squeeze unlocks the latch, but with the 51, it stays latched.

There's the 51 1601 and the 51 Morpho they just have different scales I think someone correct me if I'm wrong though

and i think the spring get streatched out so it wont work but with the liner lock thing the liner can just break and thats no fun for a 250 dollar knife (good move benchmaid)

Dude totally agree with you!!! Benchmade discontinues perfectly good models all the time! It's not even funny! Also I have the BM940 and BM943, BM acclaims they are both satin finished, but I see machine marks on my 940 but 943 has a smooth finish. Strange. I think they often get very creative with their blade finish.

lol Benchmade isn't all bad! Their customer service is the best I have ever experience besides semi-custom and custom knife companies. If you send in your 51, they take it apart and replace anything that needs replacing.

The more wear on the knife, the cooler it is. Markings. Scratches. All that stuff makes it look cooler, this isn't fucking CSGO.

42 handles were not milled out they where cast in a mold

+Wan Wan they were. Look inside the channels there are little pin things by the latch, it is impossible to do that with milling, and those pins are part of the handle. I wish idiots didnt have a 42, other more educated people might appreciate it more.

I totally agree, I've never been impressed at all with benchmade, I kinda hate all there knifes. 275 Adamas and 51 morpho are the only ones I'd ever even consider getting, but even those have there

should could and would, i have sharpened this knife for HOURS with diamond and sapphire stones, edge is still barely useable

D2 is a very difficult steel to sharpen. It's a steel so hard that it is used to cut other steel. It holds an edge for a very long time, but at the cost of being so hard to resharpen. I would utilize Benchmade's LifeSharp service.

Bruh send it in for life sharp. The benchmade warranty is literally the only value you get out of buying a benchmade. Other than that the 51 is a pathetic washer pile of shit for 300 bucks.
