The Proper looks great in Blue and Black. Thanks for showing it Paddy! I’ve had my Proper for a little while now and still really enjoying carrying it. Take care 👍🤙

Nice proper Proper. The blue and black look very good together. Going to have to see if either is in that steel and or that color. Thanks for sharing that knife Paddy.

Thanks buddy! I love the color blue on that!

A slip-joint with a weak back spring or even a friction-folder is perfectly fine for EDC use, providing you know how to use a knife. They may not be the best option for a youngster or someone with dexterity problems, b/c the potential to accidentally close the knife blade is higher in those cases. But, they are still very usable knives for anyone who's grown up handling such things...

Couldn't agree more but I really wanted the review to fully reflect the knife.i genuinely love it. Atb paddy

Saw your video and this looked like the closest thing I could find to what i was looking for which is a single blade canoe style knife that's affordable. Its not a true canoe pattern but it's similar enough. When i saw the price it was a immediate turn off so I checked on Ali found a replica/clone of the proper and took the plunge, and what do you know for around $25 its as good as the one you show complete with proper markings and the same back spring issue lol. So went out on a limb and got the clip point one also from same dealer on Ali it too was a perfect replica. So for about $50 I now have two nearly perfect replicas I can use in rotation and not worry if it gets lost or damaged. Cant do that with a proper it would cost to much to use and would wind up sitting on a shelf.

Quite a lot of the modern traditionals like the Real Steels and others seem to have very soft back springs, I was pleased with the Brother slippies and the Kansept Bevt because they have decent springs and my Two Sun slip joints are fantastic. I am not worried about the so called safety factor, it's just the aesthetics of having a nice walk and talk. Something they could think about is knives like my Enzo PK70 and a couple of others I have, have got a detent on the heel that locates on a little spur on the back spring when the blade is open, that way you have just that little extra resistance to the blade moving from fully open, even the SRM7315 slippy has a heel detent.

I agree fully Chris and I'm surprised benchmade never fixed this simple problem after the first run ,its not that nobody brought it up.but like you ,it doesn't affect my use but I just feel I need to tell new subs before they buy. Atb paddy 🙏

The looks are super on the Benchmade, bright blue handle goes very well with the black blade. Sorry to see the weak backspring on it, but once you know, you handle it comparingly. No worries to use it.

I love a clip point, (weened on the Buck 110) but I agree. The sheepfoot Proper is the way to go. I loved it so much I got the clip point, added flytanium scales, and promptly sold it. Go figure.

Great review. I cut myself with slip joint knives quite a bit due to stupidity. Cut my thumb last night with a RR toothpick cutting towards myself. Yes, I should know better. 😂

Another fantastic review, was looking for a way to contact you privately, can't find the FB group & needed your advice before buying a blade from Finland.....but my Civivi Baklash arrived yesterday and I haven't put it down since.

Probably the best looking proper I've seen except for the gold class and that is just ridiculously expensive, I'd still prefer the Brother 1510 though, that weak spring really puts me off.♥️🔪

That's a beaut - i know it's a user but maybe go easy on the cardboard to avoid the scuffs on the blade. Thanks for another great vid. 💚

It seems when a modern knife maker attempts to make a modern traditional knife they have trouble getting them right. Bench Made without a background of making traditional pocket knives may take a little more time to get one right. Once they do; they could make some of their other models knives in slip joints that pass the UK knife laws. I see no problem in making a BUGOUT slip joint if they wanted to make one. I bet that would sell like crazy in the UK.

It sure would, and although it doesn't affect my usage I really wish they would fix the walk and talk on this model.atb paddy .

The spring is ok, not strong but ok - its the action thats poor / rubbish (Walk and Talk in amercian), I belive it is the length and the shape of the tang and the sloping shape at the end of the backspring. Handle: It's the lump at the front of the handle annoys me most. I can see they us it to cover were the back-stop meets the spring but meh! I'd rather have that lump as a kick on the blade and live with a exposed joint. Wish the nail groove on the blade was on both sides, and the screws were the less fragile t8s. if the shape of the tang and back spring are to blame for the action then changing the design and tooling to fix it is anything but simple, and likely to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Nice knife, but too much branding on the blade.

Everbody makes excuses for those propers. Do you really think it's worth anywhere near $130. I like your channel. Keep up the good work but that proper might be the worse slipjoint at any price.

sorry too much $ you're paying for the name ! there are so many great slip joints out there for a hell of a lot less money that will smoke this knife. when a knife is this expensive, using it is wasting your money.

Can't argue with you but I love it.ive always known its faults but its like the girl your mum told you was no good and you didn't listen.lol atb paddy 🤣😂🤣👍
@pauljosephbuggle37223 жыл бұрын
I just don't get it. It's not a well disigned knife. The spring is far too weak and it's not the safest. It's not worth the money. You could get a decent custom job from Sheffield for that amount.
