WOW I am learning so much from watching your videos! I've been looking for techniques and even the Bonsai business guy isn't showing me any of these techniques! THANK YOU for taking the time and showing all of the techniques.

Hello again Jelle. WOW that was a tour de force, bravo! Every other ‘demonstration’ I’ve seen were ham-fisted by comparison and over dramatic too! By the way, now I’ve heard you talk more, and fluently, I’d put money on your being Dutch, like some of my best friends! ✌️

:) No hiding the fact of where I was born! :) Glad you liked this. I try to keep things as simple as I can make them. Most bonsai techniques are not rocket science!

Really liked this video! Amazing what you saw and did with this yearly complex tree. The reason I love photos of the Bristlecone Pines, Mother Nature does this kind of work. Never seen them in person so don’t really remember the state they’re in. Thanks for this lesson!

Great video, Jelle! I learned a lot! This IS indeed a very complex tree... and is visually fascinating, to say the least. Can't wait for the Autumn wiring video! 🤓

This spring I bent a 25-30 mm raffia wrapped shimpaku branch about 25 degrees. How long should I leave the wire on? I'm in zone 9a in the U.S. I don't think I'll be able to see the wire cutting in to gauge progress.

What is a good book with colorful pictures that I can give too my neighbor. I have a neighbor who loves my trees and wants too learn. I have John Yoshio Nakia’s books which he will inherit along with my 800 year old California Juniper harvested from the Mohave desert. With help from the Kofu Kai club….. ❤❤❤❤

Great demonstration Jelle. How effective is the branch splitting technique on branches that are all alive. I really need to do some major bends on really poor bigger branch material where any foliage is right out at the end. Cheers

Splitting is an option. Hollowing I find more effective. How big are these branches? Do you have bending tools?

@@GrowingBonsai I am thinking about the video I did last year on the 4ft juniper monster. I am trying to decide how much I can split to try and reduce length and bring the foliage in a lot closer. I dont have bending tools like rebar or anything...just my biceps really! Perhaps you could send me some advice by video - I am filming it on the 28th?

looks complex! how long a resting period did you leave between bends?
@GrowingBonsai
@GrowingBonsai 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam, I typically leave 10-20 minutes between each consecutive move of these branches. That allows the branch & fibers to adjust, rather than break directly.
