I just painstakingly 3D modelled a brick archway yesterday. If only I'd had this extension. Component bricks in assembly maker, bend with this extension, done in 5 min after texturing to match the field brick. I need this all the time architecturally. Splaying out a bitmap to fake brick arches works, but is tedious and can render badly. Downloading today. Thanks for the review and once more, to Thom Thom for a great extension.

The length is not off, but will only be exact with a perfect circle. This means that the bend radius will always be the same, no matter how many segments you use. But a circle made out of straight lines will of course always be "smaller" than the real circle. Note that this difference will become considerable when using only 2 or 3 segments.
@Thesketchupessentials6 жыл бұрын
Hmmm...interesting - I was pretty sure in Thom Thom's example video, his length was exact... Will have to research futher - thanks!
@jw39716 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen Thomthom's video on it, so I can't say for sure. But when you for example make a 180° bend and change the amount of segments, you will see that the width stays the same, therefore the total length of the segments must change. So it seems to be the length of the circumscribed circle that is fixed. And that also makes perfect sense to me ;-)

Can planes be bent to 360 to create a cylinder, e.g a plane with voronoi design bent to 360 creating a cylinder which then joint push pull to have depth to get seamless voronoi effect? I've been looking to create a voronoi cylinder with sketchup for a while and it's frustrating to not find any tutorials.

Thank you for your videos. I’m interested in making a large 4 season camping tent with lots of angles that need measurements so I can cut the fabric before sewing. Can you make a tutorial on how to draw, measure angles and lengths while the tent is pitched. I think a tipi would be fairly easy to figure out but something shaped like a tipi but maybe longer would be awesome. There are a lot of people in the MYOG group that would be so grateful. I’ll be sure to post your link there. Thanks again

Hey Justin. I just started using this plugin. (late to the bus I know ) anyways- I am wondering how to select the axes along which you can bend an object. I can't change it no matter how I position the object, or explode and regroup the object.
@Thesketchupessentials5 жыл бұрын
I believe this one only bends along the red axis of your object? Try double clicking inside your group and re-positioning it within the group itself

I often find the bend tool picking the wrong axis to bend to. I.e. I have a long pipe to bend and it picks the very short axis along the top. Any tips for fixing this situation?
@Thesketchupessentials3 жыл бұрын
I think it bends along the red axis. Change the object axis so red is pointing the direction you want to bend along (or perpendicular to, can't remember)

@@Thesketchupessentials Just don´t understand how to use the axes tool. Only way I can get it right when bending a pipe, is to draw it from origo and along red axis.

@@Thesketchupessentials TY. I think I got the hold of how to get red axis along the pipe. Now, the problem is how to place the axis tool to make the pipe bend the right way. Have a standing pipe. Even if the group outline is lined up allong the red defoult axis, and I use the axis tool to make red axis along the pipe upwards from the point the outline is touching the red defoult line, the pipe is tilted in stranges angels after the bend. I can not find any video explaining this.

You're off because you're measuring the inside diameter, try measuring a centre line. :)

Lol - I tested a center line and I was even further off :) I'm gonna try the decimal feet option from below and see if maybe that fixes it. Thanks for the idea though!
