Really though, he's the character the song fits the most. With the other characters (Joker especially) the song kind of fits with how they might of perceived themselves but were moving passed, but Goro never got that chance. That's why he was Joker's antithesis: the worst possible outcome.

The perfect way to start a high school day, a song from Lollia, from a game about struggling to stay who you are in high school. In all seriousness you nailed it with this one, and your other beneath the mask cover, the beginning of this one is especially strong. You have somehow strayed from the original twice, and well I'm sure there is going to be upset people, I personally think both have been fantastic, especially this one, you didn't stick to the normal but still delivered the songs feeling perfectly.

But, Akechi was distorted with hi revenge and Joker wasnt.

y'know i noticed something when i was listening to this. akechi has two(? i think?) places that he has a strong connection to, and those places are leblanc and the jazz club. if you listen closely to the music in the background, (leblanc has both the instrumental and lyrical versions of beneath the mask i'm pretty sure) i believe that the lyrics pertain to who akechi is as a character. then again, i may be wrong, so i'm just putting it out there ^^; but i find it intentional that the two places he likes most would have music that just so happens to describe him..interesting.

Beneath the mask is also used in a lot of places Akechi has no relation to. The song in my opinion is about Joker, the similarities to Akechi are simply because the two are parallel characters.

I think the song is a reference to masque of the red death by edgar allan poe some of the lyrics backs up this theory here are some examples : "ı am a shape shifter at poe's masquerade" "ı can't tell you how to see me" and other lyrics like these. it is clearly telling the story of akechi, how he is a "shape shifter" and how "he can't tell them how to see him" and the whole thing is kind of symbolic because he is just like red death he is a hidden illness that will kill phantom thieves (both in a symbolic way and literally)

I disagree. The Red Death wasn't at the masquerade in Masque of the Red Death. I think this line is about the different coloured rooms in Masque of the Red Death, each representing an aspect of humanity. So this means that the shapeshifter at Poe's Masquerade is someone who changes more than just their outward appearance but their heart.
