BENEATH THE SURFACE: EXPLORING THE HIDDEN CHURCH CRYPT AND SKULL

I found an Church crypt, under the church and had to take a look, so I went underground, what I found was sad.

Adjacent to the Old Moydow Church of Ireland (closed in 1987), the graveyard retains a fine collection of recumbent, upstanding, table and box-type memorials, some of high artistic merit. Grave markers are dated 1640-1968 and it also contains the markers of a number of clergymen who resided in the nearby Moydow Church of Ireland rectory to the north, as well as those of Roman Catholic and Methodist families.

Even better the second time. I hadn’t missed much, less than I thought. I do think that it was full of brush, thorns, etc., before the cleanup. Based on how the ground looks, old brush piles that were left, and the weedy stuff growing there now, it was probably a nearly impenetrable mess before.
