Cumberbatch is arguably the best actor on the planet; Sherlock and The Imitation Game are two of the best acting performances of recent times and he's terrific as Julian Assange in this film (which isn't great but passable as a biopic), his Australian accent is flawless for a Brit (Tom Hardy does a terrific Aussie accent btw, see Mad Max: Fury Road trailer) and his delivery is incredible. I can't wait to see how well he plays Doctor Strange next year and obviously cannot wait to see him return as Sherlock.

So of course I wandered over to this video because it's Benedict Cumberbatch, but I have to give the interviewer mad props. What an excellent set of questions, great chemistry and excellent energy! He put Benedict immediately at ease, got him thinking and as a result, we got to learn more about him. Fascinating. Major props, Jake!

I respect Cumberbatchs' talent as an an actor, and his ability to bring a character - real or fictional - to life and convey a persona I can actually believe. The fact he rallied against the drive to portray Assange as a megalomaniac monster just scored millions of points. Not because I too believe Wikileaks and Assange's work is a million shades of grey and that we need people like him - but more importantly, he stood up for what he believes in. That's what I admire and praise.

Cute though, and Ben, he's just brilliant. Not sure I want to see the movie just because I have strong views though Im sure judging by the trailer he does an amazing job acting the part.

I agree. Brilliant performances and an intelligent, thought-provoking film. 'No easy answers but I felt like I really understood Assange's driving beliefs and I could feel his sense of betrayal. I also had understanding of Berg's POV, though personally I lean more towards Assange. Ben C says it beautifully in this interview.

"Fifth Estate" was not a fantastic movie, but I blame this on the script, but I still think it was a great movie showing us how much we have Julien Assange and Wikileaks to thank for. Without Assange we wouldn't know about the worldwide surveillance of the NSA, we wouldn't know about Abu Ghraib, we wouldn't know about Guantanamo. As I told Mr. Cumberbatch a few days ago, Julien Assange is a human being with flaws who did some wrong things for the right reasons. In hindsight, the world would be a different place without Wikileaks. This movie didn't deserve the treatment it got, it should be shown in school to see that one human being can change things if he/she want them to change. It should be shown that courage is not something you avoid but something you need to have. We Germans know what happens when you don't stand up against your government when they do something wrong and horrible and I hope that people like Assange and Anonymus keep up with their work and let us know what is wrong in our countries.

it's a press junket. every interviewer gets like less than 5 min with the people they interview. cumberbatch saw like 30+ people that day, asking him the same questions. this interviewer; jake hamilton does the best interviews because he knows that last part. he goes to try to entertain the actors, directors, etc, to give them a break from that boring stuff, while pitching us the movie, making the people involved sell it with creative answers. he was rushed but efficient.

as much as I like and almost always watch Jake's interview as soon as it was uploaded, the hypothetical and personal questions are getting predictable. Boycott The Fifth Estate for the following reasons: 1. Touchstone pictures did not involve Julian Assange in their research. 2. Touchstone pictures did not execute any of the script changes Julian Assange insisted upon. 3. While Benedict Cumberbatch may enjoy the fantasy of deference and honour in approaching Julian Assange, he neither convinced Touchstone to make the aforementioned script changes, nor did he reject the part when they refused. 3. A studio that ignores and disrespects the very people it claims to celebrate is clearly about product first and morality and ethics second.

***** Sherlock would be immensely annoyed at all your grammatical errors and spend minutes correcting all of them while looking at you in a most condescending way... If you want to speak in Sherlock's name, you better learn how to write proper English first. Moron.

But the americans wanted to portray Julian as a "monster", but Benedict insisted on otherwise.
