I live in the Midwest with very humid summers, I bought a 70p Frigidaire dehumidifier 3yrs ago cause my basement in my 90 year old house seemed damp and smelled. Let me tell you that not only did the smell and dampness go away I also have no more centipedes and spiders in my basement or anywhere in the house. The dehumidifier made the whole house just feel dryer and more comfortable, the air conditioning runs less also because its dryer and I don't have to turn down the thermostat as much to cool the house down.

Great overview. A fantastic feature that can be found on dehumidifiers here in the UK is a Laundry Mode feature which allows you to dry clothes indoors in a very safe manner. Typically if you dry washing indoors the humidiity level can sky ocket by up to 30% creating a perfect breeding ground for mould spores plus you''ll get condensation on the windows and your walls wil lstart weeping (depending on how much washing is being dried of course). A dehumidifier with Laundry Mode avoids all of these problems.

Thanks for all your information - easy and clear to understand specially that u clarify in the beginning about the above 50 % of humidity isn’t good - then from there everything was very well explained - why the manuals of those dehumidifier are not easy as your class of why the dehumidifiers are good for....

Air purifier cleans the air. Dehumidifier gets rid of water in the air to prevent mold.

If you live in a area with high humidity then get a dehumidifier, if you live in an area that has a dry climate then get a humidifier...
