I wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 4 years old. Never changed my mind. Been a small animal/exotics/ rehabilitation vet for 28 years. Never know who the next species of animal I will have the honor of meeting next. Awesome lifetime dream is now my reality.

@@redfailhawk Otto. He was a tarantula that fell and his abdomen split open. I tucked his innards into his belly and used a sterile glue to close him up. A week later. Two weeks later, Otto was fine. An alligator had an eye infection. The mouth had been duct taped shut. The alligator was in the back of a pickup truck. Not a happy guy but I did my exam on him and gave him eye ointment. He recovered well.

@@slushiepup3934 Vet school? Geezers there's many to pick from but would the school pick you? It's tougher to get into a veterinary school than medical school to be an "RD". (Real Doctor.) Do the best you can in a pre- vet or pre-professional program and apply to as many vet schools as you can. I know about Colorado State University. University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. Ross University of Veterinary Medicine, if you're willing to suffer sand or shell beaches on beautiful St. Kitts wiyh an occasional hurricane. The Ohio State University or Oklahoma State University are wonderful too! Best of luck to join the best profession!

1:04 Story time! I used to work at an emergency vet, and we used to have people bring in abandoned kittens regularly on weekends because the shelters wouldn't take them until Monday. Sometimes during very busy times when shelters were full they'd stay with us for a few weeks. We gave shelters a steep discount and we would still get paid, so all was well. So when kittens would come in, we'd get them cleaned up and fed and warm, and they stayed until the shelter person would come and pick them up. Usually, kittens came in litters of 3+, but occasionally, we'd get single kittens. Domestic cats are social animals, and a lot of the solo kittens would cry because they didn't have their families. Also, kittens tend to get cold really easily, so they didn't have anyone to cuddle with for warmth, either. So the employees at the vet would do exactly what you see here: put the kitten in the pocket of our scrubs and carry them with us while we worked. Now, because of aggression and infectious diseases, we didn't have the kittens with us while handling other animals, but if you were doing paperwork or laundry or cleaning, you probably had a kitten with you. Most of them would just chill quietly in our pockets until they got hungry, and then they would scream at the top of their little lungs. Its one of the only things I miss about that job.

I think every vet and their staff need gold medals and parades. They also should have all the medical supplies and equipment that they can use for free, or at least at a very steep discount. Thank you to ALL of the vets and their staff 💜💜💜

Lol, it would benefit the owners also. My vet bill would be lower. I think my animal get better care than I do. I asked my vet if he would consider taking me on as a patient, because my son said why don't you to ask him to be your Dr. .So I asked him to do a surgery and he said I know how to do it but can't on a human.Lol ,why because his insurance wouldn't cover it.What a great sense of humor.!!!! In society today if a person gets sick 🤢 you get shuffled from 1 specialist to another.

Working at a veterinarian for years it's very rewarding. It has it's awful days too. People can make you sick. Knowing what their capabilities really are towards defensless animals. Seeing it everytime you never get used to that part.

Oh my god the first one was so cute! Horses are my favorite animals, and I love foals with their wobbly legs and tiny manes and tails, but I loved the first one even more because 1. Horse 2. Foal 3. Appaloosa (that’s what the pattern looks like if it’s not so I’m assuming it’s an an Appaloosa)

Appaloosa pattern, not breed. If I had to guess that is a Shetland foal. Very fluffy though so I’m unsure exactly, but it’s a pony breed, and a smaller one at that.

I hate to be a downer but being a vet isn't all cute and interesting animals these are just the best moments from lots of different vets, and whenever you get a patient the owner of the animal is relying on you to keep their animal healthy and alive. Either way I want to be a vet or a realtor.

About the male calico, is a male calico rarer than a female orange tabby? We have one, and her name is merida.

Significantly rarer. Orange is a codominant trait carried on the X chromosome (OO is orange, Oo is calico/tortie, and oo is black). For a male to be a calico, he needs to be XXY for gender, also known as having Kleinfelter Syndrome. Technically, one out of every four female cats should be orange in an ideal world. For males, O- is orange, o- is black, and Oo- is calico/tortie. I worked in a genetics lab for a time and color genetics is my favorite part of it.
