Given the enormous amount of potholes on UK roads today you feel like you're going off-road most of the time. It's the X for me😊😊👍👍

Yes. Absolutely the roads are shocking. 😎

I expected a lot of back lash from the GS lot for my comment about it. But I do stand by it. The more you pay, you more you stand to lose.

See the Benelli line up of bikes at Stafford classic bike show really impressed with quality ,they did come with luggage , reckon the 702 x was little cheaper at show . Not been lover of the trail / enduro bikes so I was looking at the Benelli Leoncino 800 but was drawn to the 702 as the sensible choice and that free luggage is quality . I had never heard these bike till see them at the show , Benelli to me were a 60's 70's Italian bike

The 702x is one of my favourite bikes. Really nice comfortable ride.
@maskedavenger25788 ай бұрын
I definitely reckon these 702 ‘s are worth considering a punt on ,if your after a mid or large capacity adventure bike . They appear to already have a good following & parts availability . I would probably choose the standard more road orientated model ,as I don’t really go off road only the old cinder path or driveway maybe a fire trail nothing too narley . Also I would only fit a stream lined top case. Givi or similar plus tied down tote bag . Not into the 3 box hamshanker or standing up on footrests like a demented meerkat look . Good price for what it is . 👍
@GillyBikes8 ай бұрын
From what I hear the standard 702 is selling more. Most people don’t go off road so it makes sense really. At the minute they come with the full luggage
@maskedavenger25788 ай бұрын
@@GillyBikes I would sooner have another grand off than 3 square metal boxes making them look like a barge . I only need a black plastic givi box a tank bag & a water proof tote bag ,to go touring or camping . Most bikes will cope with a bit of light off road anyway with road tyres if it’s dry & not too loose & sandy . It’s the up right commanding position ,comfort & utility aspect of the adventure style bikes that appeals to me , high performance speeds are not important for the type of riding I do now . I am down to a 250 road oriented adventure bike top speed about 85 mph at present & not missed my larger bikes once ,so getting on a 700 would feel like a rocket in comparison . 👍

I like the X but still wouldnt buy new. There's a 23 plate on Auto Trader with less than 1000 miles for just under £6k. Why spend the extra grand?
@GillyBikes4 ай бұрын
Totally agree. I’m a big fan of buying pre-registered and slightly used bikes. Let someone else take the VAT hit. A saving of £1000 just makes sense. 👍

@@GillyBikes the weird thing to me though is why would anyone trade in a bike bought new only having covered such little mileage? I bought my 1 yr old CB500X with 690.miles on the clock. Why did the previous owner bother? Glad they did though!
@GillyBikes4 ай бұрын
I’ve done it for the last 5 years. I keep a bike for a year then swap it for something else. Lost a fortune. I won’t be doing it again. I had a gsxs750. Got bored after 12 months and swapped it for a Vulcan s, that was brilliant until i did a group tour and struggled to keep up with everyone. Then I got a Vstrom 1050 which was brilliant for touring but it was really tall for my short legs. Then I got a Harley Davidson Sportster. I loved that bike but it would do barely 100 miles between fuel ups so it was not appropriate for touring. Now I’ve got my Niken and for me it’s the perfect touring bike. But were the others lost between 800 to £1000 the Niken lost £4000 and I refuse to take a hit like that. But it made me realise how stupid I’ve been. Wasted so much money over the years. Now I would only buy a brand new bike if I was going to keep it for years otherwise it’s used everytime.

Good review and very helpful, the X dilemma is an interesting one. The GS and depreciation and 3 bikes for the price of one is a convincing enough purchase decision for the Benelli. Thanks so much.

Why do people keep talking about their height, does not matter if you are 6 foot or 5 foot if inside leg is 28 inches, thats what counts. Agree with you about stupidly expensive big bikes, i have a 650 gs single cylinder, cost me 2600 quid back in 2019, toured UK, France and out to the Balkans, still here riding it, probably done more than than most GS riders. Quite fancy a TRK 502, 800mm seat height, good for me being a shortarse.

I do keep forgetting the inside leg measurement. Mines 29” so we share the same problem.

i recently brought a trk702x and its a fantastic bike, 70bhp is fantastic and able to get out of trouble super easy but and a BIG but, a full tank does me 130 miles MAX, (cavate) i use it how its sold with all the top boxes and panniers, what's point buying a adventure bike and taking all the boxes off. that's main reason someone buys 1, but do love the bike and considering all this comes as standard, and ONLY £7000 most named brands your looking at £25k or worse for the same thing
