Mine shoots like 95/05 and I switch between it and a newer version A5 or a m2 20 gauge depending on the day and I always have to remind myself with the Benelli's to float birds. Granted, going back to the browning on a different day can be tricky when you get used to floating. I put a hi-viz site on it and it has helped some. I haven't had time to adjust the drop but im sure that will help. Then again my dads sbe2 shoots high. Some people had adjusted the bolt that catches the forearm grip on the magazine tube and said it brings it down to old school 870 patterns. But I believe it voids the warranty.

Funny story. I had recently had an old Ithaca Mag 10 refurbished to pristine condition, it's a great shooting gun. Was invited to go goose hunting with a friend and I babied that gun the whole time even to the extent that my gun was in a case when geese flew right over the top of us without notice. I did ultimately shoot many geese but my friend said "I'm not hunting with you, with that gun, anymore unless I can tie a rope to it and drag it down the road behind my truck for a mile. That way you'll stop worrying about scratching it!" True story.

Just purchased a SBE3 Optifade Marsh for myself and an SBE3 Optifade Timber for my fiancé she and I both love these guns and your video helped seal the deal. Couple questions. The chokes that these come with, how do I determine what choke to use? I am assuming the dictate your shot pattern. How do determine which chokes to use to keep a tighter pattern for distance and choke to disperse pattern quickly? We are in the middle of turkey spring turkey in Oregon and I want to set our guns up for a tighter pattern. Which choke should I use? For waterfowl, some areas we hunt the birds come tuck in super close and other locations we hunt they tuck in 30 or to 50 yards out. So I will need to use chokes that disperse the pattern quickly and other locations to keep the pattern tight. Does the super modified keep the pattern tight? Thanks for you time
@FALhunter4 жыл бұрын
03FORCE21 first off, congrats on the new pair of SBE 3’s. You picked a great shotgun. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that shotgun comes with 5 chokes.. From the tightest pattern to the most open pattern, the standard chokes are Full, Improved Modified, Modified, Improved Cylinder and Cylinder. Some chokes actually have a groove cut into the top of them as well for a quick identification as to which one is in your shotgun. “1” groove means it’s a Full Choke, “5” grooves would mean that it’s a Cylinder Choke. As for choosing the right choke for your type of hunting, there are a few factors that come into play, some of which you already covered in your original comment. For turkeys, I would highly recommend buying the Kicks High Flyer Full or Extra Full choke. This choke will throw a very tight and consistent pattern. Now for ducks and geese, choosing the right choke will depend on your shooting abilities. A modified is a great happy medium choke, but personally I would recommend shooting a full choke. Again, if you buy the Kicks High Flyer Full choke, that would be a great choke for both ducks and turkeys. My biggest piece of advice would be to choose a choke that you’re comfortable with and stick with it regardless what you are shooting or at what range you are shooting. I prefer a very tight pattern because my goal is to put as many pellets on target as possible. I have a lot less cripples by doing that. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask and I’ll be happy to answer them. Thanks for the comment. ~Chris
@03FORCE214 жыл бұрын
Chris - Thanks for the response. You’re correct, both guns came with 5 chokes; each gun had a choke already installed into the barrel and both came with a case containing 4 chokes each. However, I am unsure if both guns were missing some equipment as neither gun appeared to come with a standard T shaped choke key. We did receive a black plastic square with two ends that extend however I am unsure exactly what they are as I have been busy with work and unable to sit down and play with them. They do appear to be two different choke keys in the same housing from a glance, but I have no experience in shotguns as everything I have done has been with rifles my entire adult life so please excuse the most likely obvious ignorance. I have a strong background in shooting as mentioned so I will want to keep as tight of a pattern as possible for myself however, for my fiancé until I essentially can dial in her D.O.P.E. I will want to be trying to figure out which choke would be best for her shooting style. Lastly, I do have another question. Which is the proper way to break these in? I have heard a lot of mixed reviews and suggestions but you seem to be pretty dialed in and in tune with this weapon.

Back in the mid 1980s before Benelli became such a snobby brand, they called their action a "delayed blowback." Some marketing consultant came up with the scientific sounding "inertia drive." The cartridge release lever + the carrier release button make for a complicated, non-intuitive loading design that I never quite learned to use well despite owning a Benelli for years. That plus a plastic trigger guard on a shotgun costing $$$$$ always made me shake my head.

Good vid man, wow too bad with your shotgun! What about the M2?
@toddbunnett6403 жыл бұрын
So all I can say is the SBE3 has ruined me as a shooter. I traded a 15 year old flawlessly functioning SX3 for one. I got a 2019 model which supposedly had the high shooting corrected. WRONG! Shooting paper with trap loads it shot about 60/40 pattern. I go duck hunting and I’m missing everything. Like I’m questioning if I’m shootout blanks. Back out to the pattern board with the duck loads. It’s shooting a 100/0 pattern. Wtf. Go back to a trap load and it’s 60/40. Put a 3 1/2 inch round in the gun and it’s shooting even higher. So I thought I could make some adjustments with the shims. Made no difference. I tried to make the adjustment while hunting with holding under the target. Still missing because I’m overthinking every time I pull the trigger. Fuck I hate that gun. I will also say it shoots slugs 10 inches high and 7 inches left shooting off a led sled. How the fuck does one compensate for that what deer hunting. In any event, I did some more research on this and there are some engineers saying the issue is with the comfortech stock being too flexible causing muzzle rise. I don’t know if I buy that. But something ain’t right when 3 different lengths of shells shoot like that.
@FALhunter3 жыл бұрын
I had the exact same problem man. It absolutely blew my mind how high the SBE 3 shoots. I put both C shims in and it somewhat dropped the pattern with duck loads. It went from a 90/10 to maybe an 80/20.. still way too damn high. I decided to pattern Hevi Metals 3” #4’s with my Kicks High Flyer Extra Full and the gun surprisingly shot a 60/40. Only with that particular shell though. 3 1/2’s are still high and I haven’t tried with trap loads because the $3400 paper weight won’t even cycle trap loads. I ran into an even bigger issue though at the end of duck season.. the shell catch literally snapped off. As if it couldn’t get any worse.. it’s been at the gun smith for the last two months and counting waiting on Benelli to send out the replacement part. I’ll be making a 2 year follow up video as soon as I get the gun back. Thanks for the comment man.

So all I’ve heard from you 14 minutes in is bitching about the price and it shooting high and a few chips in the paint........you knew the price. You said you did research on it so you should have realized going in that it will most likely shoot high. You get what you pay for in this world. I’ve got a m2 20 gauge that shoots like a dream. Going into buying it I knew it would have the Issiue of clicking. So I simply make sure my bolt returns to battery after chambering a round and wala the Issiue is resolved. Not one misfire not one jam. It does shoot a little high so I simply float the bird. Took me 20 seconds to get used to it. I’ll be buying a sbe3 BE.ST. This year
