So you paid $3,400.00 for a brand-new customized "Performance" Benelli, and you didn't contact the SELLER or Benelli, yourself? Why??? Instead, you took it to some local "gunsmith" to evaluate? With the same issue you are now publicly decrying? It took you 3 minutes and 35 seconds into the video, to finally say you were having an issue with "shells double-feeding." Then at 5 minutes and 43 seconds, now the "Cerakote is chipping"? Then, "a laundry list of issues"? OK, what is on the "laundry list"? You never do read the "list." There really isn't much to a shotgun, most especially an inertia-driven Benelli. At 8 minutes, you again mentioned the Cerakote somehow coming off, said you should take some pictures, but "Na, I probably won't." Good,,,,,,,,Lord. I see no reason to take the time to have made this video. You would have been better off going back to the seller, or calling Benelli. (One) part allegedly broke, and your CeraKote isn't holding up. That, and you can't shoot worth a crap. Sounds like someone overextended themselves, can't make the payments, and wants out. Buy a Pepto-pink Wal-Mart Remington 870 in 20 gauge (the color is molded into the plastic and will NEVER "chip"), and get over yourself dude. Next time; please do a archery review on the various camo patterns on arrows; and tell us how difficult and disappointing it is, when you bury a shaft into the grass and can't find it; and tell us not to buy camo-pattern arrows anymore.

Guy spends 3500 dollars on a custom Benelli, breaks it, then takes it to a non-Benelli gun smith and is surprised when he gets sent the wrong parts. Also, the gun doesn’t shoot high… you don’t aim a shotgun. Stop looking at the bead, start looking at the bird. It isn’t a Turkey that’s sitting still, it’s a teal moving a mile a minute. Also-Benelli makes your backup Franchi, so you’d better burn them too.

Where do I even start with this.. my gunsmith has been working on multiple guns, including Benelli, for 30+ years. I’d send it to Benelli but their customer service is absolute joke. Plus my guy will do a better job than anyone who they have. Two.. I’ve been killing ducks the last 25 years and I do a pretty decent job at it. If I’m ever in need of some shotgun shooting advice I’ll be sure to let you know. But I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you. If your “natural instinct” is to hold 15 inches below the bird then maybe, just maybe a SBE 3 is the gun for you. Lastly, I’m well aware that my Franchi’s are made by Benelli. The Franchi is a much more reliable shotgun than the overpriced, over-rated Benelli. Thanks for the comment

@@FALhunter I had a great experience with their customer service. While on the phone with them, they emailed me the schematic for my benelli as well as the specific part I called about. 10/10. I own multiple benellis and shoot them better than my Citori. I shot a 90/100 in sporting Clay's last weekend with my benelli. You only mentioned 2 issues in your video which isn't a laundry list. 1 piece broke, which you could have easily fixed yourself to sent to benelli. The second was a cerakote issue which was probably cerakoted 3rd party. It takes 2 years of training from cerakote to become an actual cerakoting pro. I've sent a couple guns to an actual cerakote place and the finish is durable. Sorry yours wasn't but I'd also never have cerakote on a gun that came from the manufacturer. Every cerakote color bakes at a different time and temperature. You could have bought 2 normal sbe3's for the price you paid and been fine with 0 issues. This video was complete waste of time that I'm not ever getting back

Your issue should not be with Benelli. They are owned by Beretta who have been manufacturing guns since the 16th century so why would you question their experience and expertise and have it modified by a shop in Arkansas?? The barrel was back bored (re machined) and the chokes are not original?? So the entire barrel has been altered from the forcing cones to the chokes and even the front bead. How is that Benelli’s fault if it doesn’t shoot straight?? As for the one broken piece, that could easily be caused by a flaw in the raw material which can happen to the best of manufacturers. Once you make major modifications including polishing internal parts, you have created your own problems. Ceracoated finish coming off, aftermarket chokes, back boring, and lengthened forcing cones causing point of impact to change. Polished internal parts that break are all Rob Roberts’ responsibility. That’s why most manufacturers void the warranty if someone else makes modifications. You are blaming Benelli for problems likely caused by someone else trying to “improve” the shotgun. Who would know more about that gun? A shop somewhere in Arkansas or the original manufacturer that’s been making guns for almost 500 years.

It's crazy how many issues you guys have had. I bought a SBE3 last year and haven't run into a single issue other than some feeding issues when using 2 3/4in target loads but that's just from the shells not having enough juice and even then it was only a few. Got a turkey, rabbits, doves, pretty much everything I've shot dropped hard. Learning the beaded sight was tricky but once I got it down its just another set of irons. Played with a couple chokes and my patterns were very tight about 60/40 at 30-40 yards. I think telling everyone to never buy one is a pretty extreme but I understand your frustration especially after what you paid versus what you got. Not every gun runs the exact same as others and I honestly think you just got a defective part.

Where do we being… For starters, you’re crying over spilt milk. The shell latch is NOT one of Benelli’s design or the Cerakote finish either. Those were both done by Rob Roberts. Thus the reason you received the incorrect part when the latch broke. The hydro dipping on the stock and forearm is going to show wear, if you truly use it as a waterfowl shotgun as it was intended! The greatest mistake is you didn’t do you’re homework. This becomes all to apparent from these asinine videos you’ve posted. Clearly you don’t understand that the performance shop guns are a completely different entity from the standard production SBE3’s. To back my reasoning for saying anything at all is simple. My SBE3 had something happen that is pretty rare for anyone to experience. While patterning different loads, one shot shell had a delayed ignition of the powder. With the primer having enough force to knock the bolt out of battery, the powder ignited while inside the upper receiver, thus causing it to explode. This jammed the live round that was fed onto the carrier, up against the bottom of the bolt and physically bowed the entire receiver. Four months later, another unseen test was to play out. Christmas morning here in Iowa, the temperature was 0°. I had to break ice to get to the sandbar I wanted to go to. To do so i unloaded and proceeded to use my gun as a ice hammer. When two geese made the fatal mistake of coming within 50 yards, neither one of them made it. The funny thing was the gun looked like it exploded from all the ice blasting off of it. This however, was not the case and the gun cycled fine. There’s nothing wrong with the standard SBE 3’s after 2018! They function as is to be expected and beyond. Oh, and as far as my gun, she still runs anything I feed it! If you don’t want to be made an example of, start doing your homework and understand that you do not have a standard SBE 3! The piece of shit you bought is a super black eagle 3 Rob Roberts custom waterfall edition. The warning label that this gun has been tampered with beyond all recognition is “Rob Roberts!” Oh and I almost forgot, as of October 2020, that firearm in particular was discontinued.
@FALhunter
@FALhunter 3 жыл бұрын
Hmmmmm..... Where do I “Begin”, Yes I own the SBE 3 Rob Robert’s Custom Waterfowl Edition. And I’m well aware that it’s a completely different shotgun than the standard edition, hints why I bought it. Regardless of “who’s to blame” Benelli has their name stamped on my shotgun and Benelli had these shotguns sent to Rob Robert’s to have this custom work done. So in my opinion, Benelli is equally to blame here. Now as far as the Standard SBE 3, who do you suppose the example being made of is? This shotgun continues to receive hundreds of complaints on a very regular basis from everyday people who own this gun. And yes this is on post 2018 models. Benelli has not bothered to correct this issue on this gun regardless of what has been said. There are several forums online that support my claim. Do some research, the writing is on the wall that the SBE 3 is an all around bad investment, regardless of what our personal opinions are. A good duck gun is one that can be abused on a daily basis, but if I can’t rely on it to serve its primary function by hitting what I’m aiming at or cycling every shell, every time. Then it’s essentially a $1800 ice hammer or in my case, a $3400 boat anchor. Thanks for watching.

@@FALhunter these “hundreds of new complaints..” can you point me in the direction of some literature to back that up? Once again you haven’t done your homework. The problem was confronted. The warranty covers this issue. The problem was a timing issue. The receiver and barrel didn’t displace the sonic shockwave cased by even light weight loads. This In turn caused the astronomically high point of impact. This is a simple fix. Yes, I had to do this on mine. Now she throws a beautiful 60/40. Your headline was worst shotgun ever made… I do not know anyone who has had a shell malfunction, like I experienced, and is still able to use that firearm… Then again, that’s just me.

Both pre and post 2018. I actually spoke with Randy recently and he told me that he is receiving complaints that the new SBE3 20 gauge is having the same problems as the 12 gauge. You and I had different and possibly very rare problems with the SBE 3, but the fact that we had a malfunction to begin with is concerning. Especially on a shotgun of that caliber and price. The 10 year warranty program is nice but Benelli isn’t known for their quick turn around times on repairs. I very much wanted to like this shotgun. I was even okay with the fact that I had to switch shims and shoot Hevi Metals. The cerakote finish was junk but that doesn’t affect the reliability of the gun, plus I’m a firm believer that a duck gun isn’t made to look pretty. Having that shell catch snap and break was what led me to trade my SBE 3 in. Regardless if it could be a one time, very rare malfunction that happened. Reliability is my number one when I buy any gun. More so when it comes to a duck gun because I hunt multiple days a week in some harsh environments. Our goal behind these videos is to give the most honest and up front opinions about the gun from our experiences.

They were lucky to be cleaned once a season. The Affinity throws a perfect 60/40 pattern so there’s no need to float the bird or anything. I know Winchester came out with the SX4 in a 20 gauge, I know a few guys who have the SX4 in a 12 gauge and I haven’t heard too many stellar reviews from them.. if anything they like the SX3 better than the SX4. Now Benelli’s ultralight series has been around for a while.. guys seem to really like it. I think the issue with Benelli is this comfort tech 3 system.. Yeah it wasn’t an easy decision by any means to trade in the SBE 3 because I really wanted it to work for me. It’s a comfortable shotgun, points and swings well, slim frame which is what I like. The best of the best upgrades to limit the probability of a failure.. hints why I paid so much for it. It sucked telling my gunsmith that I wanted to trade it in but after having parts break after just two seasons, I lost what trust I had left in the shotgun that it was capable of withstanding the abuse that I would have put it through over the next 20 years.

Second time sending mine in for shooting high. First time it was shooting way over 100% high. They swapped the barrel and it still shoots just at 100%, just got it sent off again today. Let’s hope they fix it this time. They’re trash guns. Their “it’s designed to shoot where the birds are” is complete b.s in my opinion. Never would have bought it if it was advertised to shoot high.

NEVER buy a firearm that is a brand new model, because things like this happen in initial production. Also, Cerakote is a coating, and it WILL wear off with use. Never buy a gun coated in Cerakote and expect it to last with hard use, because it won’t last.

Paid 1100 bucks canadian for my Browning silver hunter 3.5. Shoots target loads to turkey loads flawlessly, hits where I point, and fits me like a glove. Its heavy, but for sitting in a layout it works great, soaks up the recoil of 3.5 inch 1.5 oz goose loads. Sure you have to clean it every now and then but id say it'll go 300 plus shells before it starts to hang up with target loads. Its never hung up with anything high brass. Looks good, shoots good, has a gold trigger and the name starts with 'B' so it gets respected at the hunting camp. Great gun.

You are also forgetting The performance guns aren’t really Benellis they are offered by Benelli but work is done by rob Roberts so should’ve contacted them as well ( probably has the shell latch warranty because I believe they change the latch from the Benelli ) . B you bought a old gun Benelli had a recall on the early guns. I’ll stick by them i was handed down to me after 10 years of hard hunting from my father and the sbe 1 and it still looks good. the hk benellis were good but many shot low no matter what shim you put in it. The second gen benellis were hit and miss but overall good. The sbe2 was ok but not an improvement over the one, actually a lot of people complained about the trigger guard hurting their hand when it recoiled. The 3 is notorious for shooting way high and it's documented over and over. I have a gen 2 sbe1 that shoots 50/50, a M1 with three barrels a 21" that shoots high a 24" that shoots a 50/50 pattern and a 28" that shoots a 60/40 pattern. The small bites are picky as hell. I shoot them because with the A shim they fit me better than any other shotgun made and I hit with them good. But they don't pattern as well as other guns in a lot of cases especially Browning's and Winchester and and optima plus Berettas. I have patterned thousands of rounds over the last 25 years. Benelli ain't the end all of shotguns. All the fanboys are just defending them because they spent so much on them and it's what they have. I have owned multiple M1s and montefeltros also. Not the best gun but they have the best fit for me.

I am however a die hard turkey hunter and have the rob roberts sbe 3 custom turkey version in 12 gauge with a red dot and it is the finest shotgun I've ever shot or owned. When it comes out at the range, guys walk over and ask me about it. Anyone that shoots it tries to find one in stock to buy and can't. I've killed more birds than I can count with it from 10 yards out to 50+ and it shoots an awesome turkey pattern. Sorry for your bad experience, had a few myself so I do understand the frustration.

Cerakote is a phenomenal finish for firearms and is insanely durable. An important note that I'm not sure you're aware of, is that the only parts that are coated on your gun is the receiver/action/barrel. The stock / foregrip wear that you showed in your previous videos are not cerakoted, they are hydrodipped. Hydrodipping is one of the LEAST durable finishes you can do to a firearm. beyond that, it sounds like all of your issues are related to rob roberts and his hands being involved with the gun. If the shell catch broke, and it's different than the standard part for an SBE3, that means the problem likely lies in that part being modified. Not going to claim your gunsmith is incompetent, but I wouldn't be surprised if the detail of you gun not being a standard SBE3 was overlooked when reaching out to benelli for a replacement part. I personally would have never guessed that it would be a modified part from the standard SBE3's version.
@FALhunter
@FALhunter 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! Yeah the cerakote job didn’t 2 seasons. I fully expected the hydro dipped parts to fade but not the cerakote. I don’t know who dropped the ball on the replacement shell catch.. but what’s disappointing is that it took Benelli two months to send a shell catch, then another month and a half to send the right one.

I have shot the Super Vinci a few different times.. a few things personally bother me with that gun. The forearm it too squared off for my liking, I’m not a fan of the placement and the style of the safety, and that 3 piece breakdown of the gun I feel is just asking for problems down the road. I know some people who really like it, it’s a fast field strip for sure. But in my opinion a good duck gun should be able to last through multiple hunts with very little to no cleaning. So a quick takedown isn’t a huge selling point for me. I might be old fashioned but I like the confidence in knowing that my gun is held together by a solid magazine cap instead of a 1/4 inch turn.
