soooo interested in this for a trailer. no slips available for 2 years here and would rather berth it in my front yard anyway.

I feel you! I would also greatly prefer the freedom of a trailer. There is a half-joke going around that a significant factor in choosing a spouse is their posession of a slip on the nearby lakes.

In California you can tow this with the proper vehicle and the annual permit for loads over 8.5 feet wide but under 10 feet wide.

I think this boat is a day cruiser only. Doesn't seem to be for anything else.

I think you are somewhat right. It would obviously make a lavish day cruiser. On the other hand our expectations are always based on our experiences. I see it as an ideal owner's boat. Many sail and keel options. Small enough not to cost a fortune, but big enough to comfortably explore say Scandinavia or the Med for a season. If I were looking for a boat to charter in a small group - ex. family only - it could also be a good choice. The answer is, as always, it depends. People have successfully crossed oceans in 21 foot boats. And people have perished in 60-footers. In my research I heard in passing of at least one couple happily circumnavigating the world in an Oceanis 30.1 Would a larger sailboat be more comfortable and possibly safer? Sure! But strictly foregoing the third cabin the 30.1 actually has more storage and is more comfortable (large head) than a bigger boat (with more cabins) refitted after charter (which has to be a popular option considering a large supply of and thus lower prices for (after-)charter boats)
