It just depends on what the owner likes best. They are both very different. As for a sailing yacht you can sail and shut off the engines which is nice, and a luxury yacht is more spacious but you have no sails.

Very nice boat! I'm a total newb just getting into yachts so forgive me for asking; but why is there such a drastic diference in pricing when I do a sale search for this boat? I get results as low as $250k-ish in Europe to over $500K here in US. I found this to be true on many other models of sail boats of similar size. Thank you for a reply in advance.

I'm in the very VERY beginning stages of research into boat ownership and a thought of possible liveaboard retirement on one with my wife. When the timing is correct I will certainly reach out to you for more questions. As you can probably tell by my screen name were in Colorado which obviously doesn't scream out as being a potential wannabe yacht owner. My knowledge (or lack of) yachts at this point is on the scale of 1. I obviously have lots to learn so the simple explenation you were able to provide for me is a good start and your walk trough reviews of yachts is also informative to newbs like us. The newer designs a nice, but my God wtf happened to utility? The electronics are behind a seat and the nav station doesn't deserve that name at all. It's now about looks and light crusing, not actual sailing. God the cockpit alone looks dangerous because it would be so easy to fall overboard!! Edit: the video however was very informative

Murrey1 There are many ways to “sail”. You can focus on raw speed and performance (watch the Admirals Cup). You can focus on mega luxury (check out ‘sailing yacht A’). And in between there is about a bazzilion different niches.

We love the boat and we love the presenter... Matthew is one of the best people we know and we need to once again remind everyone that we choose to use 'real people' that are not professional at anything but selling boats... and many times they do this for the first time and are operating well out of their comfort zone. We def. understand the value in having an actor do a walkthrough video but we fear this might result in something a little less authentic. Hope you understand, and thankful for your comment.

@@DenisonYachting That's exactly the problem here. You sent our an authentic guy and tried turning him into an actor. This setting is way too staged for him. Nothing feels natural - because it isn't. Just do a more natural walk-through with the guy without a script, have him give his opinion in his own way of speaking and without a script and you got yourself a winner. Beautiful camera-work and editing, but the presenting kills it. Should be done way more natural. You don't need an actor for that, you just need to get rid of a script and loosen up. Great video otherwise. I really love the way it's shot and presented. I could watch and hour long walkthrough of these new beneteaus. They're really fantastic.

@Matthew Morrison There was absolutely nothing wrong with your presentation. Selling to a camera, I find, is quite difficult and nerve wracking, and the challenges are amplified with a deadline and other folks filming or watching. Some people are born to be assholes, while others develop the talent from their mother's basement, and it's best to ignore both varieties. I've found the best cure for jet lag is to immediately engage in a couple episodes worth of Wiley's "Quick Pano" drinking game upon landing, and sleep like a baby that first night. A quick Bloody Mary for breakfast on day 2, and the trip is a breeze! We'll look for you in Annapolis this fall. Cheers.

I just can't get with the newer designs. We recently went to a boat show in Southern California and looked at new Beneteaus and Jeanneaus. Both just too clinical for our taste. We much-prefer a more traditional design.

Sounds like you office is the only good contemporary interir design you know, so you need a old school yachting movie set. It's not a disney boat nor a Trump's bad taste baroque yachting style with varnished dark wood, it's the typical european clean and clear yachting style.
