Bengal Train Accident | Two trains collided in Darjeeling, West Bengal, resulting in 8 fatalities and dozens injured, according to reports. The incident occurred on June 17 when an express train bound for West Bengal's Sealdah from Assam's Silchar, the Kanchanjungha Express, was struck from behind by a goods train near Rangapani station, close to New Jalpaiguri. Two coaches of the Kanchanjungha Express derailed in the crash. Reports suggest that the goods train had overshot the signal before the collision. Multiple teams from NDRF and SDRF are currently at the accident site. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw have responded to the tragedy, with Vaishnaw stating that Railways, NDRF, and SDRF are working closely together.
