The litmus test for me is if you would take Joe Burrow and put him on any other NFL team they would be at minimum the same, probably better. If you take any other quarterback in the league and put them on the Bengals, it’s fair to assume that they would probably be worse. Even Lamar Jackson cracks whenever he gets sacked more than twice. How many games have we seen that guy throw his helmet and justmelt down. I’ve seen Joe Burrow get flustered, but never melt down. Patrick Mahomes folded in the Buccaneers Super Bowl after he got sacked a few times. I don’t think that these other elite quarterbacks could survive playing on the Bengals. They might play one game under duress and survive. However, they could not make a Joe Burrow type career behind a bad offensive line, in my opinion.

Mahomes did not fold against the buccaneers even when pressure he accurately threw to his receivers but they kept dropping passes hitting their face mask. Mahomes through out most of his career is great against pressure. That buccaneers team had elite pass rushers going against 3 backup offensive lineman.

Lamar has had some crappy OL's. Not as bad as Joe's rookie OL but he has had some bad ones (Villanueva) This year Ravens lost half their OL and had to use rookies and standins. Lamar hides a lot of shortcomings. With Chase and Higgins Lamar would be putting up the same numbers as Joe plus more rushing and a lot less sacks.

Before we talk about Joe Burrow being MVP, know that there's 5 teams with at least a 13-wins season. They are the Bills, Chiefs, Lions, Vikings, and Eagles. In order to state that Joe Burrow deserves MVP, we must not be able to identify a single player in these 5 teams that is responsible for their team winning when that player is on the field, and losing without. Because tbh, there isn't enough value in single-handedly turning a team from surely losing to maybe losing, maybe winning. There is however, a lot of value in turning a maybe losing, maybe winning to a almost-certainly winning team. That is because, your success in the post-season depends on your ability to win when the team needs you to win, not your stats. I just feel like for us to talk about Joe Burrow being MVP is doing a disservice to the countless hours of work of potential MVP candidates in the other teams that's been able to make it work. Again, if Joe Burrow can single-handedly turn a surely-losing to an almost-certainly winning on his own, yeah he wins MVP, no doubt. But right now, it's possible there are other players on those almost-certainly winning teams that has been able to say that they turned a team from surely-losing to almost-certainly winning...and Joe didn't quite do that. When discussing MVP, there's no ceiling what one can do, and has done.
